In fact OSU did it just two short years ago.
Buying players has been the way to win for a LONG time. Bama's "barber" and the REC bagmen were legendary. Then TAMU bought an entire team...
The only thing that changed is now it's "legal", and you can't get mad if teams gain an advantage playing within the rules.
Interesting story - I was at LA Tech during the Karl Malone years. He drove a custom IROC Z Camaro around campus that his "grandmother" bought for him.
It also had a custom tag "MAILMAN".
So, yeah, this is a story as long as old as college sports.

LSU is way ahead, and I love it.

We should totally go back to the old system where Bama has the #1 recruiting class and wins every other natty for 14 straight years. The “system” definitely wasn’t broken then.
You know... in all honesty, I think Saban is actually a little overrated considering he had 4 and 5 stars 3 deep in the roster. He shouldn't have ever lost a game.
Definitely the best recruiter of all time, but coaching... a little overrated.

Your response should be "well yeah, that's why Kiffin left Ole Miss to come here"
Because a lot of those same people questioned why he left there and were acting like the job change was a lateral move. The reality is LSU has better facilities, better history, more resources, deeper pockets.

It’s easier to blame the system and salary cost than admit the harsh reality that our administration and coach is far superior.

Too many “well, they have a $40 million roster” remarks by Clemson and others
I’ve seen it up to $55 million this morning. Pure unadulterated copium.
It will be $60 million after they beat Ole Miss by two scores.

A couple of years ago… we were right where they are right now. Believing you don’t have to spend because of your brand… They will need to wake up like we did the last couple of years. No one is safe from spending big money to be relevant now.
Either way, they got the straight belt right last night. Didn’t even belong on the same field.. it was nice seeing LSU just be the better, stronger, faster team all around.
