I say this every year, but we shouldn't have preseason polls. It should start after week 3 or 4.

It punishes and gives credit to teams all year that were ranked incorrectly in preseason. A team that's preseason top 5 can look like shite and still be top 5 if they eek out wins against crap opponents. Same is true for teams unranked that look really strong.

It is good that the CFP polls aren't released until later, but human nature still can cause those polls to be influenced by AP and Coaches polls.

But TV needs the rankings to promote top 20 matchups for ads and viewership.
