One thing is clear so far.
Up til now, LSU and Louisiana has completely outlawyered the SEC and people like Mars.
Mars has been 2 steps behind on every part of this.

To be fair to the SEC lawyers, they didn't have a lot to work with. The NCAA royally screwed this up and the people at the conference don't know enough about the landscape to understand what is going on because to this point eligibility has been purely an NCAA issue.
So they are left with the word salad from Sankey yesterday and the filing in Federal Court in Alabama which has been shown to have several fundamental legal problems. He's used to speaking in talking points, not fully understanding what it all means.
If everyone would just stop and get out of their own way, but no thats never gonna happen. :(
Oh, and as a sidenote, Tom Mars is serving as Michael Lombardi's lawyer in that UNC mess.

He may be an “expert” on the NCAA, but he doesn’t know basic procedure.
1) Can’t sue an arm of the state in another state or a federal court outside of its home
2) The proceedings in Louisiana now control the issue as it relates to LSU and these players. Alabama state courts have to respect the judgement issued.
He is crawfish now because he knows the federal suit will be dismissed. Don’t forget two weeks ago. He also said that UNC‘s general manager‘s job was safe and no wrongdoing occurred.

Yeah, I’m hoping that crappy lawsuit gets tossed out. It’s ridiculous. The whole idea of selective enforcement against one school is crazy. How can you not even warn Alabama for not only playing a pro in a sport, but they also had to have sought him out. That seems far worse than these players seeking eligibility for the 5 for 5.

Bounty Gate was resolved via a lawsuit against the NFL for action taken by Goodell. The players were originally suspended, but the suspensions were removed.

There’s multiple sports lawyers posting on social media about this. In a legal scholar way it’s super interesting. Mars is one of the few that holds the opinion that the SEC will prevail.
I’ve seen multiple former professors posting on x about this. Oddly a professor of civil rights was posting about the SEC bill of rights claims.

Hey Tom Mars. The SEC made these rules after the players had a TRO. LSU is enjoined in the PRO. Go back to Law school Mr. Mars.

And that right there should be LSU’s biggest point. They could up the anti by filing a discrimination suit against the SEC. What you do to one side of the equation you must do to the other side.
