If we have one loss or no loss its irrelevant. If we have 2 losses its also irrelevant.

Pulling for Canes, do see the other side. Think UF wins, young QB and O-line at Miami.

Yep Miami will not sniff much of the red zone on offense. I am just hoping Franks throws a few ints. I think florida wins also but I am hoping for a good game. Miami has a legit defense though.

After all the cheating and calls/no calls by the SEC, I hope the rest of the SEC chokes on their own vomit. Go Tigers and Go Canes for today.

This. With the caveat that we have to at least play Bama close if we have 1 loss.

I don't give a shite if Auburn, Alabama, and Florida all start 0-1.

The scenarios for an 11-1 LSU team to not make the playoff are few and far between.

There would need to be 4 other 11 win conference champions or ND getting that many wins. UGA could also throw a wrench in things by running the table and losing in the SEC championship game.

However, the strength of schedule would still be incredibly strong even if Florida falters. We could be left out, but I don’t think UF not being elite would be the reason we were.

I do, do you?

So again, how do you know that's what they are thinking (that SOS doesn't play a factor)?

Apparently not

Perhaps if you weren't so focused on coming up with some message board zinger and didn't just take one sentence literally by it self without reading the rest of the paragraph you'd understand

In the BCS there was a formula that used computers which included SOS, it was calculated to the .001. in a formula like that 1 loss could theoretically be the difference between being #2 and #3. The committee doesn't do that. The evaluate the teams and of course SOS is a factor, but not in the sense that the OP. We play Texas, a quality OOC game goes a long way and is way more important than if 1 of your conference opponents loses an OOC game. I know this because I've paid attention to the playoffs the last few years. Alabama made it in 2017 with an 11-1 2nd place in the SEC West finish, their SEC East opponents that year were Tennessee and Vandy who were 4-8 and 5-7 respectively. They were a combined 0-14 vs the rest of the SEC. Wisconsin was #4 the 2nd to last week despite playing ZERO ranked teams at that point So yeah, they use SOS as part of their evaluation but again not the same way a formula does.

So i ask you, do you honestly think the difference between LSU making the playoff and not will be the result of the Miami Florida game in week 0? Use your brain.

ETA: frankly i don't think we make the playoff if we don't win the SEC even if we are 11-1 unless only 3 other P5 conferences have a team with 0-1 loss

It’s a simple yes or no question bc I could comeback with what if those teams suck? Is it better to beat a 10-2 or 8-4 UF team?

No we're not.

I hate BOTH of these teams, but I'd never root for UF...unless they were playing Bama.

If Florida wins, then when we play them will most likely be a CBS 2:30 heat of the day game...

THIS. Even though Florida's record helps LSU's SOS, we still need to win at least 11 games to get to Atlanta and have a shot at the CFP no matter what our SOS.

Oh, and frick FLORIDA!!

no matter what the numbers are, if we win the SEC and beat Bama we will be in the final 4.
