Number of commits does not matter. It's an average player rating.

Then you really should take out the kicker and long snapper as those positions are always rated very low and are very much hurting the average.

Not pumping O at all here but to say that Moo State has a better class than us right now is just absurd. We have two 5* players, they have zero 5* players.

Your “averages” are not the whole picture.

I care about filling needs and the particular talent we place in those needs. Recruiting rankings mean very little when it's said and done. Right now, they mean NOTHING

Filling needs is important but we could easily fill needs with 2* players. That would not make this a good team. You still have to fill needs with quality players.

Unbalanced talent has been a bigger issue. Voids in the trenches, at times at Lber, and poor QB recruiting/development have held LSU back.

Not sure what this had to do with my post but okay. The Offensive line problem was they were all guards. And as of right now you cannot say if that has been fixed. It's been addressed but they were awful in the spring game. As for defenisve line yes we seem to have more depth like back in the 2003-2012 days.

I personally do not like the way they rank recruiting classes. I think it should be based on the average talent rating of the class, coupled with the needs of the team, perhaps (which, yes, is something you can quantify. Could be a very subjective metric, but so is the player rating).

I would rather have 20 4-stars than 10 5-stars. Number of players in the class has to factor in. I get what you are saying, being that its June and all classes will fill out. Still a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush, right? There is no way to perfectly measure out the class rankings. Just know that they are meaningless until December.

Also, as others have mentioned I think the weighting of punters, kickers and long snappers should be adjusted. Maybe they should just have an entire category of their own, seperate from the rest of the class. You get a specialist class ranking and a regular class ranking.

Need shouldn't have any weighting in class ranking. That's silly.

I swear, some of you people could be given $500 no strings attached and would find a reason to bitch about it.

Rankings mean absolutely nothing right now.
agreed. Even after signing day I view rankings as only a piece of information that never stands alone. A big and important piece of information, but only partial.

It is however an indication that good things are happening. Not to mention, the movement in the course of a week is an indicator that it was indeed one hell of a week.

It's like a hint to dig deeper. Like when the girl in the bar leans into you and uncrosses her arms when you start talking to you. Is she into you or does she just have a bad case of the mayonnaise arse and is trying to air it out. You have to dig a little to find out. When you see a jump in rankings the first thing I do is go look at who at what positions and were those positions of need.

Is it just me, or do the same people that post complaints about the last recruiting class being ranked 15 bc rank matters-- are the same people that bitch about us being #3 for this class bc rank does not matter at this point?

i think average player rating is good for full classes but at this point in the game is 1 5* better than 10 4*s

We were number 6 the other day simply by adding two players. Stingley and Parrish. The rankings matter to some degree but not near as much as people think if your staff is getting who they want, instead of who is left over. We are picking the guys that we believe can get the job accomplished at a high level or at the very least have that ability to do so, with some training, strength and conditioning.

Some kids have already got the size but not as much upside. Some kids have the maturity and smarts on the field but also have the skills to perform how we need them to perform, after their bodies are ready.

There are so many variables which aren't taken into account with recruiting rankings and so they're most definitely flawed but also give us an idea of what type of team we might have. Anyone in the top 25 regularly can do amazing things with the right QB and surrounding cast. To win a championship you should probably be top 10 regularly.

LSU will have plenty of talent if we keep landing class's while filling needs like we have been since 2017 albeit missing on a QB and CB in 2018 but followed up with getting some depth in the offseason. You can nit pick all you like but the results will speak for themselves.

Does LSU have blue chip players throughout its roster? Check.
Does LSU have depth? We have more than we've had recently.
Does LSU have a dominant defense? Check
Does LSU have a decent QB? We aren't quite sure but have a good idea.
Does LSU have a good staff. Many are proven but we still have some who have to prove themselves, which shouldn't be the case at LSU but at the moment, that's the case.
Does LSU have good STs? Most think it can be better in 2018 but we'll have to see.

There are lots of questions on this team which goes to show you how depleted we were before. Since this staff has taken over, I've seen a major improvement on how we recruit altogether while also admitting that they can learn from past mistakes at the same time. Don't let those same things happen twice.

We still have some major recruits to fall like Sopsher, Cain, Emory, Byron, Parker, Starks Lee and Palmer. Still need to get a LT, multiple DL and multiple LB. When we do that we'll be in great shape with this 2019 class. GT

Wow look at Texas sitting at number 4. All the shrimp boat riders told me Herman can’t recruit.

Hurts our average to have a long snapper and kicker. The more players we get the more this dissipates. Where do we fit with those two removed. We would move up to about 8 or 9.

This is incorrect. You’re not factoring in the fact that we have several highly ranked JUCO players who are rated disproportionately low considering their talent level. We’ll have major contributors next year in this class who are currently ranked low 3*’s.

If you’re going to make a snarky bullshite post then at least get your facts straight and account for every variable, not just the ones that make O look bad.

Plus an unrated TE I believe. Either way it’s a legitimate top 10 class. Overall imo O has done a good job of rebuilding the roster. Major holes have been filled since he’s taken over. O found a way without relying on 17 year old recruits to fill holes. Juco and transfer market will prove to be huge additions. We would be n rough shape without them.

Three players included in LSU’s class average are a 2 star kicker, a 2 star long snapper, and a guy that didn’t even have a profile on 247 until after he committed to LSU. Without those 3, the class average is .9111, not that any of that means anything

News flash, LSU hasn’t won shite since 2011 Finishing anywhere in the top 10 should be acceptable. Hell the actual team hasn’t finished a season ranked in the top 10 in 7 years.
That's perfectly "Fine" and acceptable to the Pumper Pukers.

They're all home grown uneducated cretins with low standards of excellence. MA is their way of life.

Luzianner: The Mediocrity State. Da state be loaded to da brim wit Luzianner MA's and Beotch's.

I know that because the Piped In message that's played before kickoff's in Tackytiger Stadium tells me so. I be from Luzianner. I be from Luzianner. I be from Luzianner.

Not a O basher or lover just a LSU fan, that out of the way I can never get why grown arse men concern themselves with recruiting rankings at this time of the year.
