This is a very similar situation to Les Miles. You have a coach who is past his prime and under performing. We are being passed as an SEC elite by Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Florida. If you’re satisfied with making regionals, a super regional, and a CWS every 4 years then he’s your man but if you want to be elite again and play for championships, you need to go out and make a change. I’ve been a Paul supporter but it’s time. He will go down as the second best baseball coach at LSU but let’s go out at the end of the season and try and find someone who will make us elite again.

None of them will respond objectively. All of it will be subjective emotional responses filled with excuses.

Let the season play out. The starting pitching can take this team far

Comparing football to baseball is gay.

The 2017 CWS loss is starting to look like Les's 1/9 loss. Paul may never bring the program back from it. Time to bring in some fresh blood.

You are spot-on, but you will get blasted by all of the CPM apologists on here.

Until the arm soreness kicks in right?

But seriously the pitching is the only reason we don’t have below .500 record right now

I don't see it as supporting Mainieri. I've seen too many teams start slow and finish well in my lifetime to just punt on the season now. Just last year the Rant gave up on the basketball team in November. They went on to win the SEC and get to the Sweet 16.

If we were undefeated right now, it would be the same thing. Baseball seasons aren't won or lost in February or March. Freaking out now is pointless.

It’s not Woodward’s style to fire someone mid season. He’s not that guy.

He’s also not the guy that settles for mediocrity.

Somewhere along the line, there needs to be offense.

And more times than not, his offenses improve throughout the season. If it doesnt then things will play out like they should

He has a huge contract for a few more years

If anything, he will agree to retire early, I don’t think Woodward “fires” him

I am not sure I trust Woodward to get the right coach

I think the board takes the support of CPM to one extreme or another
I am a supporter but I see plainly that something isn’t right & needs to change
It just doesn’t always have to be let’s shite on CPM after every loss

I am not pleased with Eddie Smith at all
CPM went & found a real hitting coach, if he doesn’t do his job I expect CPM to remedy that

I used to be a Miles supporter because I was afraid of what would happen if he left. When we hired Orgeron, I felt like my feelings were validated. But then Orgeron systematically changed the program for the better.

LSU baseball needs the same. Can’t be afraid of what could happen but embrace an opportunity for new life
