re: To all the anti-O ranters... What will all your bitching accomplish? What's your endgame?

For Ed Orgeron to be removed as head coach of the lsu football team for failing miserably, as his track record shows and replaced with a proven head coach. Joe Alleva being fired would make it even better. Of course I am aware that the complaining unlikely helps this happen faster or helps any chance of me being proven wrong.

Texas opened their wallet to a guy who is 1-2 and lost to MARYLAND badly. He's a hot commodity but in no way shape or form is he a top HC in college football right now. Ask Charlie strong about going to Texas being a hot commodity and see how that turns out. You just don't know with these guys.
And that is a totally fair assessment. There is a risk to any coaching change, to any hire. But do you think everyone is shooting from the hip? There are tangible things that people can assess/judge/critique that can help mitigate that risk. That is precisely what a job application/resume/interview process is for.
The problem: All tangible metrics, all comparisons, all judgement show O to be literally the worst hire a Power 5 school ever made. He literally has no good spot on his resume outside of recruiting prowess. Has never successfully run a football program. Never successfully been a coordinator. Was never hired for a head coaching gig past Ole Miss. Has a terrible head coaching record. Was not considered by any other program for a promotion. Does not carry himself like a vision-focused head coach. Etc.
There were two potential "upsides" to O:
1) Continuity
2) Getting out of the way
That's what was sold. 1 has already been debunked with the MSU game and the general sentiment turning. The other one, is not a good reason to hire a head coach, but it pairs well with the whole narrative of "Continuity" winning now, because we supposedly had the talent, had the program, had everything in place to win we just need multiple genius football minds to be allowed by a figurehead to win games. That was the story.
quote:
In defense of O, you have to take Pete Carrol as an example. He failed miserably in his first few chances to be a HC but he changed some things and figured it out and is now thought of as one of the best football coaches out there.
Petey was a successful coordinator, this is not a good comparison. Saban, Meyer, Carroll, Miles....none of these are good metrics for O because he literally does not have any of the success that they do on their resumes.
Have you ever worked for a corporation? You rarely, only in extreme circumstances, promote a Manager or Director to VP. Typically you promote from Executive or Senior Directors. You also don't promote from Executive or Senior Director to Chief Executive positions. You have to show a variety of success at particular levels. Yes, there are once in a lifetime people who come into a corporation and ascend fast, skip rules, but these are the exception.
What part of O or his resume says "O is an exception to those rules,"? Is it because you "feel" he is an exception?
I think a lot of this would die down if O supporters in general would just say, "I just feel O can be successful. I have no data, it's just a feeling." And leave it at that. Arguing against all logic is the main driver of the divide right now.
For all intents and purposes O 1) Didn't deserve the job 2) Doesn't have a resume for the job 3) Has never shown he's good at the job 4) Was hired through poor rational.
If you feel he'll do well, that's fine. It isn't rational, but it's fine and people can't argue that.

I was very anti-Orgeron during the coaching search. I decided to "give him a chance" (whatever that means) when the season came around, then he lost to Mississippi State by 30. I want him gone.

To carry further the analogy:
"Alleva went shopping for a Lamborghini, got turned down, and then went and bought a used Saturn":
Yes, if you can't buy a half-million dollar car, you can at least get a Lexus or a Cadillac Escalade.
You don't have to head to the buy-here-pay-here lot and settle for a piece-of-shite junker with 200K miles.

But I have not seen ONE of you rantards try to offer anything constructive about where we go from here.
It's pretty obvious isn't it? We can rule out things like atomic bomb attacks and building a wall and making Mexico pay for it. After eliminating everything like that we'd be left with conducting a coaching search, and hiring the best young coach available - kind of like we finally did in basketball.

coaching search,
What a novel idea.
Who do we talk to about doing one of those...what'd you call it...coaching searches?

What is all the anti-O venom intended to accomplish? You're not changing anything. Why not get behind the team?
I support you coach. Don't change a thing. We are ok with whatever outcome we see.
Winning and losing do not matter to us. We are tiger fans and that is all that matters.
Did I do that right?
