Sorry. Word is he needs a lot of work physically. Look for Johnson to be #2 with Parish in the transfer portal. Gotta keep Myles healthy this year.

One or two of our freshman QB’s will get some mop up duty and experience in case we need them to play. Myles can’t take every snap every game.

You know that from one spring practice

I would feel very bad for Finley if he reads the board, however, if he reads the board often, he should know how ridiculous these guys opinions.

Even Peyton Manning was not a starter until the mediocre No 1 guy was injured.
JR was very inconsistent, even as a red shirt freshman. He made the necessary improvements to have an adequate career.

Glad we kicked off this QB controversy early. It’s been too long

You can't base all this off the one drill y'all even looked at. I watched the kids throwing at actual people not just some fricking nets. Both looked fine to me.

I’ve read about Joe accurate Johnson was in a footwork drill where the QBs do a latter, and then turn and throw

And then watched it and he missed as often as Finley.

Idk who will by #2 this year and if you told me Max was more technically sound than Finley I would Definitely believe that the son of an NFL WB has better fundamentals that a kid from Pontchatoula. It would be hard to imagine they got close to the same quality of coaching up to this point.

I like both of our freshmen. However, Max’s arm strength and motion that seems to push throws tells me that TJ’s arm strength and ability to quick release could be an advantage in his development. We’ll see. I am rooting for both kids and let the best one get the second spot. My post is just relaying 2 opinions from people who are at practices who were more impressed with Finley.

He's simply doing things he hasn't been asked to do before. He just needs time.

With the proper development he has all the natural talent to take the reigns one day.
That's what they said about Brandon Harris. Never happened.

Some QB's can't make the leap to Major College football mentally.

In this Brady Offense, you've got to have Quick Information Processing Skills and Defense Reading Ability, in addition to being accurate with the football.

Having "Athleticism" and having a Super Strong Arm are not necessities...…..

Finley is extremely talented, but needs a lot more development. Johnson is much more polished at the point imo. Guessing a higher overall football with the heritage. This kid has watched a lot of film with a pretty good NFL QB as a nightly tutor :-)

Haven’t seen one practice video of him throwing a tight spiral.
Might eventually make a TE or DT.

How is his 2nd, 3rd and 4th read skills? His field vision in general? Cause these are vastly more important than the features you mentioned
