Da fuq? Lane who hasn’t coached one game at LSU at #1 and #2 Kelly who underachieved yeah that list is terrible.

What a moronic ranking.

He’s talking about the hire and how high profile it was. Not the results. I actually thought that was obvious but apparently not.

I can agree with most of this if you base it on how things were perceived on the day of the hire. Some of the rankings would have changed drastically with 20/20 hindsight.

Surely this is a ranking of coaching hires.

I understand. It’s a rather goofy meaningless distinction. That being said, Kelly was ultimately a very mediocre HIRE.

Hell, I’d assert Dinardo was a MUCH better one.

It is meaningless in the long run, but it just kind of shows the state of the program. When you’re able to get a high profile coach, it means that your program is at a higher bar. This shows how high our bar has gotten. Our last two hires were very high profile.

You’re right, remember hearing talking heads say he was the same age Saban was when he was hired at LSU but they were wrong or just generally speaking.

Point stands that at the time of the hire though Saban had been a DC in the NFL and had 6 years HC experience at Toledo and MSU compared to Kiffin having a HC stop in the NFL, Tennessee, USC, winning conference championships at FAU, and being a proven winner in the NIL era averaging 10 wins a year at a midtier SEC school. Even if Kiffin doesn’t pan out this was the biggest splash hire LSU FB has ever made one-upping the CBK hire

In a few years come back and make a list based on wins.

Arnsparger and Kelly should be flipped. Bo Rein seems like he should be higher. I wasn’t blown away by the Brian Kelly hire, but some of those I’ve read about and think they should be higher on the list.

I got Kelly at 10 over dinardo at 9 because Dinardo at least had a work ethic, decent connection with community and was not a con man

Some of you still struggle with reading comprehension. Kelly would be #2 easily and could make the case for #1.

He’s still a HOF coach that LSU hired away from arguably the most storied program of all time when ND was in the top 5.

The primary point of the article is how big a splash Lake Kiffin hire is.

The coaches performance at LSU is NOT factored into this subjective ranking, thus Bo Rein inclusion.

Without O there would be no 2019, the greatest NCAA football team of all time. No Burrow, no 15-0, no Heisman etc. O got Burrow to LSU. Think about it.

I used to follow Michigan State pretty closely. I was sad when Nick left there but I knew THEN we were getting a gem in him. Turned out I was right. Best coach we've ever had but I agree there were a lot of blank stares by LSU fans at that time.
