Casanova and Stovall's jersery retirements were announced much later after their time playing on the field.
Billy Cannon 20 Announced Dec. 12, 1959;
Tommy Casanova 37 Oct. 10, 2009/Announced May 18, 2009
Jerry Stovall 21 Oct. 13, 2018/Announced May 8, 2018

If Bryce Underwood made his commitment contingent on being able to wear 20, I guarantee that number would be unretired

If any player goes to any school and expects them to unretire a number just for him, then I’d say that player has an ego problem and I would tread very lightly on that individual.

The only number LSU has ever retired in football is Billy Cannon's number 20. I hardly think they're running out of numbers any time soon.

What's wrong with this picture?

Well, they spelled Casanova incorrectly and Cannon is the only retired number. Otherwise, maybe you should enlighten everyone.

Florida has yet to retire 15. I think Tebow deserves it if anyone does.
Spurrier is a bigger deal than Tebow. And Spurrier doesn't have his retired either.

“Under a provision of the LSU jersey retirement bylaws established Jan. 1, 2007, the retirement of an athlete’s jersey in a particular sport does not preclude a current student-athlete in that sport from wearing the jersey number in that or any other sport, subject to the discretion of the head coach. This provision applies only to jerseys retired after January 1, 2007. The numbers worn by Maravich, Pettit, O’Neal, Cannon and Bertman may never again be worn by future student-athletes in their respective sports.”

Why should I give 2 shits what UF does? Or Bama? Or anyone else for that matter.

Billy Cannon is STILL the greatest FOOTBALL player to ever grace the field at Tiger Stadium. Not because of a fricking number or yards in a season but because of Everything he did on all 3 aspects of the team - offense, defense and special teams (both as a returner, punter and kicker).

1958 Bowl Game vs Clemson
LSU followed up with a 7–0 victory over Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.[26] Cannon was responsible for the only points scored in the game; he threw a touchdown pass to Mickey Mangham and then kicked the extra point.[15]

1959
Cannon showed his versatility in those games; he led the team in total yards on offense, returned an interception for a touchdown on defense, and averaged 40 yards per punt while also returning punts and kickoffs.

Spurrier's number was retired by Florida, but he gave his permission for another player to wear it, but I don't recall who it was. I suppose players at Florida still wear #11, but I honestly don't pay much attention to Florida.

In other words, this post is completely irrelevant.
