I am certainly not a defensive backs coach, but I still see reason for concern at the safety spot. In particular for me is Major Burns. Looks to me like he is out of position regularly and not very fond of contact. What y'all think? Could Sage Ryan be a boost for us when he returns?

Major Burns looks like Harris 2.0. At least Lewis gets physical.

Hope Jay Ward is back this week. I think Jay is a difference maker.

It truly is amazing how bad Burns consistently is. We need Ward healthy but at the other spot we’ve had poor play from Burns, Toles and Harris. Lewis at least stuck his nose in and hit a couple ball carriers which is more than I can say for the others. I dunno if we shouldn’t go the same route we did with Ward and make Flott or Mcglothern safeties. Flott isn’t good in coverage but he at least tackles and Mcglothern needs to be on the field.

Burns just started his like 2nd game of his career. He made an int and had a couple of nice tackles. He’ll get better and had been getting better

104.5 guys were saying if all LSU’s defense needs is a safety. Can the freshman Sage be that guy?

I watch a lot of cfb and i see a ton of blown coverages. I really think that is cfb today with the offenses being run.

Stingley blew the coverage on the busted play, not Burns.

Sage will be more of a nickel or box safety once he returns. I’m actually higher on Burns than most. He made a great play on the pick last game and just needs more time in the system to get settled in. I’m not sure the busted coverage was his fault last game. He and Ward are definitely our best options.

You'd think a guy who's been in the program for 5 years and has started multiple games would have figured it out by now.

Ryan has been out since camp. I wouldn’t count on him to do anything this year

ARe you sure of that, looked like Burns coverage. Based of what the other safety did. Looked like Burns was trying to be deep safety for cover 1, while the rest of the defense was in zone cover 2 deep. He broke to a spot where the other safety was already. Stingley broke off to cover the short sideline of the zone. Looked like to me we were 4 across the short to mid zone with 2 deep.

Well our 2 best safeties by a good margin are Jay Ward and Sage Ryan and they’re both hurt. Langlois is hurt too and I’d love to see what he could do.
