A big pond with no other planned SS on the roster coming into this season

Looked good defensively to me. Gets the ball out of his glove quickly.

This is way to early but I'd say his glove looks great and he has all the arm talent but he seems to hold back sometimes to make an accurate throw and makes plays closer than they need to be and in one case his throw got beat.

Way too early to make a conclusion at the plate.

Thompson hit .246 with 11HRs. Braswell needs to step up the hitting, but he's got a while or all season to do that.

his arm did not seem as strong as I was expecting.

I don’t remember seeing him have to make a play from deep in the hole where arm strength was required.

He’s smooth defensively. He’s got a great glove he’s not as rangy as Thompson was as far as arm strength but he makes up for it how he positions himself for the throw to first. He’s got great mechanics and fundamentals

Realistically, what does more? Balls in play leads to double plays and sometimes a productive out or more strikeouts which leads to only 1 out and few more homers?

Could Milam play SS? Yea I think so.

Would it come with a lot of growing pains ? Yes I also think so

Even in the game Saturday he was shaded up the middle at 2B, ball hit hard right at him, had a ton of time & rushed a throw that Jones got shite for, even though it was a bad throw. Jones dropped it then recovered it with a bare hand for an out.

The few times I saw him in the scrimmages he was hit or Miss ar 2nd. SS is just a different beast I’m not sure he’s ready for.

Braswell hit .271 at SC without the HRs. Its not a reach to say he will hit better than JT. And if he doesnt, i dont think he will be the SS for long. We had limited options behind Thompson, but several guys that can hit and play SS now.

If only there were numbers to compare.

Braswell fielding % .961
JT fielding % .921

Braswell batting .271
JT batting .260
