A year away from what? We have 2 potential 1 and done players, 2 seniors and a junior that is most likely gone. Now or never

I completely get what you're saying... But people need to realize that those are the types of players these guys are. Blakeney is a score first guard always looking to attack. That's what he does. And still was 7/16 tonight. Not a bad percentage at all. And I don't recall him having bad shot selections tonight either. If he's open, he's gonna let it fly.
Simmons isn't the type of player that will force his shot. He lets the game come to him and picks his spots to score. He's got elite basketball IQ, vision, and passing and looks to use them more so than getting his shot off. If you think he'd gonna shoot 20times a game, you're gonna be disappointed. He impacts the game so much more than just with points. Sure, he will have their games where he goes off for 30 and nobody can stop him. But he will also have games where he will score 10, but has the biggest impact on the game. He doesn't need to score a lot to impact the game.
That said, I also think Simmons knows when he has to take over games scoring wise. When we need it, he'll do it. Didn't need it tonight so he just let the game come to him and did his thing.
And Brandon Sampson can flat out ball. Silky smooth jumper with range for days, elite athlete and very long. Gonna be a baller.

Simmons was so smooth. He reminded me of Jamarcus Russel (stay with me) because he was so cool and smooth and relaxed. Those guys do amazing things , and it looks like they aren't even trying. It's like slow motion excellence.

Simmons will be gone after this year most likely. I wish he would stay 2years to grow with this team. This year is too pressure packed for these kids to make a run. I just dont see it. I really want to see them play a quality team first and see how Ben asserts himself cause he is too unselfish to me.

Big Elbert looked good. Shed some weight, gained some muscle. He's going to be key to banging down low in league play for 10-12 min a game. Can't have Simmons getting roughed up all year playing the 5, and Victor will need a spell.

Exactly! Its not enough time to gel. I still dont trust JJ as coach either.

Simmons extremely unselfish, maybe too much. Team looked very good at times, sloppy at others. Guess that goes with the territory in an opening game. Three key components out tonight. The return of Gray and Hornsby and the addition of Victor could make this team a threat in March. I saw enough to know this, Simmons is a hell of a player.

Liked what I saw out of Robinson. We were still missing our best most consistent returning player in Hornsby. If Victor gives any contribution at all, this team is a sweet 16 lock. We are probably Martin staying another year away from being a championship team

This team is a year away from being way worse than we are this year because you can say bye bye to:
Ben Simmons
Antonio Blakeney
Tim Quarterman
Keith Hornsby
Josh Gray
After this year

Not Martin, Mickey. Simmons is an overall better version of Martin. Mickey would have solidified the paint

he one thing I was looking forward to that I was bummed we didn't see more was the full court press. I want to see who we are when we apply 3/4 court pressure for a full half.
I agree with this completely. Take advantage of what you have, which is a team full of athletic guys but lacking in size.

Simmons scored 11 points because he played mcneese state. He will shoot 20-25 times against a team like Kentucky. He will be selfish when he needs to but until then he will take his time and let the game come to him.

The amount of stupid trolls will be exponentially increased from years past. Use this thread as an early indicator of tards who don't know shite about basketball.

Epps didn't record a rebound, point or assist but had 5 fouls in 7 minutes. He has to get better if we want to make a run. We can't win with Malone and bridge getting extended minutes. I know it was just mcneese but we have to have more post depth.
