If you don't care, why post in the thread?

I was surprised by the crowd. Usually no one is at the games until at least sec play.

Is probably the worst case returning lineup not counting incoming recruits. Wouldnt be the end of the world, they wouldnt be as good as this year but would be decent.

Was Pmac as crowded as they acted like? How was energy of the crowd? Hope they show up all year!

I read somewhere it was the biggest opening night crowd since 91...over 11k

It's so tough to watch basketball on a Friday night when football is almost 24 hours later

It was a pretty good crowd. Not much consistent energy though. Can probably contribute that to the constant foul calls and playing a weaker team

I was really impressed with Tone's defensive ability, he played lights out on defense. I think people overlooked that aspect last night.

Sat on the second row last night, right near the LSU bench. Here are my takeaways...
Simmons was born to play basketball. Everything he does on the court is effortless and his instincts are uncanny. Easily the most comfortable I've ever seen a freshman in his first game. You could hear him telling older players what they should have done in certain situations... And they listened as if he were John Stockton. He's the best Passer in an LSU uniform since Randy Livingston.
Blakeney. It's like he has nervous energy. He's always pulling up his shorts, messing with his mouthpiece, bouncing around. He's going to be quite a force. Like a young Penny Hardaway.
Sampson. Very smooth for a freshman. Good shot. Good mechanics. Gets in great rebounding position.
Elbert. Most improved player. Looks strong. Did well boxing out and had a couple of nice post moves. His passing from the middle was key to beating MSUs zone. He is going to be more than serviceable.
Epps. The refs called at least 3 phantom calls on him. He n3ver had a chance to do anything.
Quarterman. Seemed to force things a bit last night. Not worried about him though, he and Hornsby are our leaders.
Bridgewater. He thinks he's way better than he is. Doesn't have a position.
Malone. You can see he has good basketball IQ. He wants to do the right thing but his body won't let him. He won't provide much.
Victor. He didn't play but he was very active on the bench, always had his head in the huddle and talked to every player that came off of the court. I feel like this guy gets it.
Summary:this team will be scary good once everyone is back (and if Gray can stop playing recklessly), but we have to get better at free throws.

Let's have this conversation at bed of the season . If LSU does not finish in top 3 in conference then we self bah throughout tourney- deal?

The guys looked in shape and ready to go. The only problem I see is they need to get more chemistry playing in games that actually count. Overall, they played well but there were some questionable passes and some bad shots. I'm excited about the pace of play and all of the shooters we are gunna have come SEC play (Sampson, Blakeney, Hornsby). It's gunna be a great year!

Yeah. If we put sampson blakeney hornsby robinson with simmons facilitating on the floor, zone defenses against that should be terrified.

It's mind bottling. Like when you are so confused it feels as though you are trapped inside a bottle.
Simmons is the most advanced freshman I've ever seen to be honest. What separates him are the intangibles- basketball IQ is off the charts. People saying he passes too much are lost. He's doing so much more than just passing- he sets up his teammates by manipulating the defense like a pro.
Tone just makes me think of a combination of penny hardaway and Tyrone biggums. Silky smooth street baller.
Just wait until we get victor and Hornsby back. This could be THE YEAR if we stay healthy.
BUCKLE UP

They looked great last night. Sloppy at times but that's expected with a young team early in the season.
I see our bread and butter being the fast break and passing out of a double between robinson and Simmons in the paint out to Sampson, Hornsby or quarterman.
