Are you talking about the 2023 class or the 2018 class?
Because you could be describing either one.

Absolutely doing a fantastic job. BTW, whenever possible it is better not to just take forum opinions but instead quantify it. I will say right off that 247 Sports assessments are far from perfect as I've stated umpteen times. But they seem to be unbiased. Here are the comparison ranking LSU vs itself from last season's portal additions and comparison against other teams.
2024 transfer portal class incoming Ranking 43rd 9 commits avg rating 89 total points 39.7
2025 transfer portal class incoming so far Ranking 2nd 6 commits avg rating 89.78 total points 40.2 (notice already surpassing last year's total points with 3 fewer transfers)
Anyone who doesn't see an outstanding transfer portal class so far is either anti-LSU, mathematically challenged, or both
Also, LSU lost 27 players to the portal last time...so far only 16. Without starting a firestorm debate, subjectively I wanted 4 of those last year to stay with LSU, this time 4 of those to stay with LSU

How can any college staff seriously build a team with all the unlimited transfers in/out?

Not much, LSU fans do this every year. It's delusional to think we'll be a real contender next year. 9-3 at best.

Look! It’s one of those Rosy Stench Boys!

I started a thread about a week ago asking this very question. It's a new era of CFB. IDk the answer but I suggested:
a) Implement a investment pay scale that rewards players for staying, winning championships unlike what any other school is doing.
b) Pare the roster size down some. Instead of spreading your NIL pool over 85 players, consider 60 players. That's about the size of an NFL roster. For the three SEC games I checked (USCe, OM, and Bama), we played 55, 52, and 55 players respectively. IOW, it would be better to have 60 loyal players in the program than having 85 of which about 30 will move on or out.
c) Utilize simplified schemes that can be mastered in a spring and fall camp. The dwell times are so brief now players do not have time to master complex schemes.

Sharp isn’t near the tight end that Mason is but he can block and is physical.
I thought that was the concern with Sharp is that he hasn't proven to be a very good blocker - great receiver; meh blocker.
FTR, I would've preferred to have kept Pimpton. But once he moved on, glad we got Sharp.

Please dont forget that LSU needs a punter!

My biggest disappointment this year was the very oline you discussed. Could not run block. It may be better next year. WR looks better. CBs look better. Qb as good or better. RB will be better.

I deplore what CFB has become
In the Saban and Miles eras, before I got a lot busier with family and work, I could name at least every contributor and prospect on the team year to year and kept up closely with recruiting.
Are there still people who are fans to that extent?
It has to be hard now to stay that invested.

And how good was our online last year. Couldn't run for shi#. We have big recruits waiting. We have a top 3 QB in all college football near year with weapons..making moves on defense. We will be better.

Lost our best recruits. Missed out on the best transfers.
.
we lost 2. underwood and phillips....again they were not worth the money, better to put that money into portal than HS players..
Jakeem...dude has played 1 HS season, will leave USC after next year watch. 100% not worth 2 mill
what transferred did we miss out on besides the kid going to Oregon from purdue? who else?

The entire OL is gone (except the worst player)
you are adding a center, so will have experience at both guards and center. interior should be strong.
will have 2 kids they feel extremely confident in at tackles, but i would like to see them add a OT if one comes available. .
you will be better at WR, Qb, RB
worse at OL and TE but only worse at ol when they were fully healthy and even then they could only pass block
on defense
Lb and Dt- Better
CB- better
DE- worse pash rush but better against run. if Perkins come back, prolly a wash
S- need to add a couple but can you get any worse?
wtf did ole miss bring in that is so damn good
womack? yea we are going to miss all his amazing production

The touted Oline from last year didnt live up to the hype so this isn't a negative
That’s even worse because that means Brad Davis coached them down below their talent level. He will have less talent to work with next year especially at tackle.

Same. I could name essentially the 3 deep at every position. This season I saw a couple people get on the field early this season and I went "WHO?!"
I've never had to open the roster on my phone before at an LSU game like I do these days

If we want to judge Brian Kelly and staff’s recruiting ability, I think we should start with the 2024 class and after.
That's nuts. He was hired two weeks before early signing day for the 2022 class, and had a full year to recruit for the 2023 class. That class is 100% on him. It was crucial he sign ~25 players in his first full class, he shite the bed at that endeavor, and it hurt us last season and he is now playing catch up with
Speaking of the 2022 class, it only had 15 signees including Campbell, Emery Jones, Perkins, and Mason Taylor. Even with the low numbers and a dead man walking HC the last two months, It was immensely better than the 2023 class. It was common knowledge that Kelly did a great job holding onto our top recruits. Are we not going to judge him on that either?

We've thought that the past few years, yet the result hasn't translated onto the field in a positive way.

Agree. People keep hating but I don’t see what we’re supposed to be excited about.
That’s because you don’t know shite about the incoming recruits. Nothing. All you do is see what we’ve lost, or had decommit and it reinforces your negativity of LSU football so you just roll with it. Did we lost people? Hell yea. But everyone did. And nothing we lost is irreplaceable

I don’t think this roster makes the playoffs
You don’t know shite about LSUs roster, their incoming pieces, nor do you know anything specific about anyone else in the country’s roster. Go into detail about Texas’ roster. Boise State. Penn State. Etc… you have no clue how LSU’s talent stacks up versus the rest of the country
