No they aren’t.

And most of the people saying SMU should be in are only doing so because the committee already had them over Alabama before yesterday. If they drop SMU below Alabama for losing their championship game then it’s a farce and can’t be defended with any reasonable logic.

If Bama,They would destroy the concept of playing a conf championship game. If you were in before you shouldn’t be replaced by a team sitting at home.

then LSU needs to immediately cancel Clemson. What is the point? Replace them with Southern or Grambling, if not already on the schedule.

Yeah should be an easy choice. Who has a better record? Who played in their Conference's Championship game? Bama didn't even play in the SEC Championship game.....

, I do believe Bama deserves to be in over SMU. If it were LSU and not Bama, we would be raising ten kinds of hell.

Horse shite. Tejas beat nobody and they are in. Sce has the only argument over all of them. They were up on LSU 17-0 and Sellers gets hurt. That impacted the game as well as the r Ole Miss game (and Bama to a lesser extent). They were neck and neck with Bama losing on the road by 2. That should factor in like every other sport when it comes to losses. SCe 2 point loss on the road should be even when comparing the teams.

The Committee rules included leaving out FSU last season because of an injury AND THEY WON. Amazing how fricked up that was. This year, SCe should get consideration because Sellers injury impacted the LSU game significantly.

Bama got boat raced versus a crappy OU team the second to last game of the season. That was a horrible loss as was Vandy.

Please explain why SMUs situation should be equal to Tejas. Tejas beat 1 team in the top 30 - TAMU.

You can argue that Texas shouldn’t be in and it has merit but when you play in the SEC championship with one loss, you’re gonna get more credit. That’s just the way it is, may not be fair but neither is life. USCe doesn’t have the history to give them the benefit of their situation. I totally believe if that were Ewers that got hurt and Texas would have lost another game, they would get that benefit. Again, maybe not fair but true. And for the SMU comparison to Texas, come on man, the SEC team will always win that argument. Fair…….?

We have the weirdest fan base.

Hate the head coach, backup qb is always better and now we can add Bama dickriding to the list. Wild.

So Alabama has the better team but SMU should go because of their W-L schedule? Do they want the best teams in playoffs or not?

Who do you bet $100 on in a head to head game next week? Enough said! Roll Tide

Are you guys new to CFB? Overall record has long been the deciding factor over resume of teams with multiple loses. Bama lost not one but two games to mediocre conference teams, win one of those and its not a discussion

It should be an easy choice.

SMU
11 wins, 2 losses.
Finished first in their conference and played in the Conference Championship
Losses were to
#18 10-2 BYU 3-point loss
#17 9-3 Clemson 3-Point loss in Conference Championship game

Alabama
9 wins- 3 losses
Finished tied for fourth with 6 other teams
Losses were to
#7 10-2 Tennessee 5-point loss
unranked 6-6 Vanderbilt 7-point loss
unranked 6-6 Oklahoma 21-point drubbing

If we are going to punish SMU for playing in the conference championship and getting their second loss then why not punish Notre Dame for not playing in one? They are similar in records and strength to SMU.

Kind of like you would have bet on Alabama to win straight up against Vanderbilt (22 point favorite) and Oklahoma (14 point favorite) correct?

In what universe should a Bama team that loses to Vandy and gets trounced by a shitty Oklahoma team make a playoff? Two of their 3 losses were horrible. We aren’t talking close losses to Georgia or Texas.

It’s easy. Bama is the better team. SMU is the more deserving team. Go with the more deserving. If you’re going strictly off of better team, I could probably name 6-7 teams better than SMU or Boise State. It doesn’t work that way though. Your record has to mean something. Schedules will always be unequal in college football. There’s no way around that. But generally speaking, a team that exceeds expectations for the year should be rewarded over a team that did not meet expectations for the year. Just my opinion.

I’m not sure what history has to do with individual games in individual seasons. I guarantee you if it were LSU vs Bama, instead of SCe, it would be the same despite fact that only Bama has more titles than LSU the last 20 years.

frick that, SMU is a playoff team. You obviously didn’t watch that game last night. Even in a loss they deserve to get in over Alabama.

Who you beat is important.

Who you lose to (bad) is important.

In the end, getting blown out by Oklahoma is too much to overcome.
