If you won't let me go back to 2012 and 2011, and you call 2019 a fluke, then you are limiting the discussion to the decline years of Les Miles. Okay.

1. I didn't call 2019 a fluke. I just said it was the year LSU didn't lose to a less talented team. Which is what we should expect. I'm not one of those fans that thinks LSU should win it all every year. Just that LSU should win the games against teams they are more talented than. Outside of Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Georgia, there aren't many teams that can complete with the talent LSU brings in year after year.

2. 100% not limiting the discussion to the decline years of Les Miles. Coach O getting arse whooped in 2017 by State and Troy is on the table. LSU's loss to A&M in 2018 is fair discussion. Losses to State, Missouri, and Barn in 2020 are fair game.

I'm a homer and even I don't believe this.
It is close. Our defense may be the most talented, especially in the secondary. If Arik Gilbert comes back you could make a solid argument that our offense is as talented as anyone. Combined, even our current weaknesses at LB can be overcome to take a "most talented" title.

If you would tell me they get Gilbert for a full year, plus either mike woods or Donovan Kaufman, I would give LSU another full win on this year. Big holes at those 3 positions

I agree if they get Gilbert back and can add an impact guy like Kaufman on the back end id feel a lot better. I’m not as worried about WR. One of the 5 freshman are sure to emerge. I like Jaray Jenkins too. And if you’ve got 2 bonafide receiving weapons like Boutte and Gilbert it’ll make life easier on those guys too.

Peej you are retarded.

if anything Bama was lucky we didn't pistol whip them worse.
He's got a bit of a point. We pistol whipped them in the first half. They were reeling us in, in the second half.

If they didn't frick themselves so royally in the first half, that game could go sideways in a hurry for us. I know I absolutely wanted no piece of them in a rematch.

Nope... rarely have we had a QB that could challenge Bama.. After 2012 we did not have an offensive or defensive line at Bama level.. even 2019 our line of scrimmage talent was close but still below Bama.. 2021 defensive line equal or better than Bama. Offensive line still a knotch below.

Only Boutte could get separation in the spring game. Against #1 defense.

We are close. Tough schedule as usual. Mostly at home.

We will give Bama a solid run for the West.

Listen, LSU is always loaded, they're the only team I say that can compete with Alabama every year talent-wise. The talent has always been there, but the difference as usual has been in the "coaching"

High level talent NFL caliber yes we have but overall top to bottom depth BAMA has better players in the middle and end of their squad, many of their players on the bench could start at LSU.

BAMA always wins in the trenches except 2019 and recruits better at those positions and the reason we lose to bama is they typically dominate the line of scrimmage. Not totally on coaching unless you blame inferior linemen on the recruiting of players which falls under coaching.

You coach Kentucky in a game against me coaching Alabama and see who wins the game, heck I may even give you Nick as you defensive coordinator.

Let's not forget injuries, 2019 was brutal on Alabama losing two starting linebackers and a star defensive lineman, also a QB that was hobbled for most of the season.

Coaches are important but high level college teams recruit better and have better players.

Coaching and depth has been the problem.

I listened to the Athlon cover 2 podcast. They said LSU will be one of two things this year: a 9/10 win team headed to a major bowl and possible playoff contention or a 4/5 win team with the bottom completely falling out from under them.

YOU just made my point. The staff isn't the same as 2019. Bama was "down" that year also. And aTm wasn't near as good as they will be this year.

Most people would take 2019 bama over 2020 bama and aTm loses a shite ton of players. 2020 was supposed to be their year.

Yeah, I don't know why the poster(s) keep harping on A&M. I don't keep up with them but have read a little about A&M in keeping up with LSU. Per usual the only overly optimistic A&M fans are posters on an LSU message board

If LSU gets above average play from the WR and LB they will win the West. The rest of the team is stacked.

Hey Penrod, You cant have it both ways. Props to you for being a knowledgeable poster. Respect for your opinions.

I agree that The gumps had more talent at the end.
I was pointing out that he didnt lose to Bama with more talent. I was stating that his teams outplayed them twice with less talent and absolutely horrific QB play. The QB play was arguably bottom 5 in the country.

Miles had a stale offense and could not recruit/develop a QB, but his teams were in position to win late in the game against almost everyone and did so more times than not. He should be given some credit for this. He wasnt a terrible game day coach like many have talked themselves into believing.

Miles had the gumps beat with Anthony Jennings, who couldnt complete a forward pass, under center. Think about that for a second? What coach in America couldve done that to the eventual Natl champs with 2 weeks to prepare?

His resume speaks for itself at LSU. I dont love the man.
I do get tired of the Miles haters in here football related, that dont have a clue to what they are talking about. The misinformed talk sh@t about Miles because they think its cool. When misinformation like the post I 1st responded to occurs, I will chime in more times than not.

If you want to question his lack of QB recruiting/development or his speaking to the media abilities, go for it.

The rest of what it takes to win in this league in the last 25 years, Id put his resume up against anyone in this conference.
