This is what is known as a delusional LSU fan.

Was that the secret to winning it all in 2019?

Well, pretty simple, alabama lost 11 of their 14 two deep on defense combined with Tua being injured. Otherwise, alabama wins that game. Injuries are a part of football but they got destroyed on the front seven and had no answer at LB.

and even going to La Tech. LSU doesn't know how to identify Oline talent or develop them.
Hire Mawae and watch things change in the OL recruiting and development.
If we want to compete with bama, it is very simple.....we have to play/recruit by the same rules bama employs, from paying players to stupid compliance rules only LSU enforces, and the ongoing weed nonsense LSU employs. All these things hurt our recruiting.

Haha.
That was like game 9 for them, they had a bye week before the game, 9 players from D selected to an all-SEC pre-season team, and 5 players drafted from their D that year. No shortage of talent.
And didn't our O like set/tie a record for most points scored at BDS? Bama was fortunate it wasn't worse than it was.

Cam Wire was another last minute "Panic" offer by Grimes. (Has no business starting on the OL at LSU if an SEC Championship is your goal)
Both Grimes and Cregg were totally worthless in recruiting OL's that fit into that SEC Championship category. (Without the Brady-Burrow Get The Ball Out Fast Offense)
I honestly don't know how Cregg got Dellinger out of Michigan; excited to see him starting at LT this season and boom, in comes the injury demons to frick up the best chance at OL greatness. Out 6-8 weeks, huh?
I am reserving judgement on Brad Davis until I see imperical evidence as to what he's going to do in OL development and recruiting. He absolutely can't continue doing what Grimes and Gregg did.
Gotta take the Bama approach to OL recruiting and go nationwide or it will be more of the SOS. (And I've been screaming this for many years on here)

I don't care what they have to do, but the OL recruiting has to improve drastically. If other schools can land stud OL every year, there's no reason LSU can't! Truthfully, I don't think it's a top priority to O or we would have at least seen a shift toward that direction and that hasn't happened! Landing homegrown top level OL players is great, but we can't live on that alone!

At least LSU’s O line aren’t all related
Posted on 8/17/21 at 8:36 pm to rjacksonmroctober
O still hasn’t figured out how to recruit the OL

The young people on this board are not stupid, they just don’t have enough LSU football under their belt to know better.
What does that even mean?

In the last several years the Tigers have had a tough time recruiting quality offensive lineman. I'm not sure if Coach Cregg was one of the stumbling blocks, but with the addition of Brad Davis as Offensive line coach......and the fact that he is highly regarded....maybe things will improve.....

If LSU wants to reach that elite level offensively, we have to improve our OL recruiting
A great OL can make a decent QB look like a million bucks. Wait what...

They’ve owned us in the trenches for over 10 years now. Even in 2019 they did. We just had freak play makers and knew how to use them for once. Louisiana doesn’t produce the big uglies in the trenches. O needs to go up to the Midwest and Texas to snag some of them corn fed boys.

I see the problem in coaching. We haven't had a good OLINE coach since Saban was hear. Coach Miles and O did not hire good OLINE coaches. We finally have one let's see. Recruiting is also important and it is part of the job of the OLINE coach.

It's a valid point and not breaking news that Alabama has done a great job recruiting OL and we have not. That said, the difference between a 5 star and 4 star is not as wide as you think, especially on the OL where it is extremely hard to evaluate HS players at that position.
Anyone who’s played the game knows that the QB and OL positions are much different than any other positions for many reasons. There is not another position on a team which starts 5 guys, as well as uses the rest of the offense to help them at times, including TE’s, RBs and WRs! So recruiting that position is much different than recruiting a RB, WR, DB, LB or DL.
Those 5 players usually stay for 4 years, some 5 unless clear 1st / high 2nd round talent. Those 5 can also double team or chip block. They can pass a block to someone else. They can double for one second then head up field the next. It’s about the 5 as a team not all natural ability. Yes you need some natural ability but if you have a smart OL they can beat anyone who isn’t as smart.
LSU simply needs 5 solid OLman who work well with each other and of course we’ll take the best talent we can get but it isn’t like Bama’s OL group are miles ahead of LSU every season. Some they are and some we are. We can beat Bama this year and possibly next year also. You have to believe in yourself as a team, work hard, develop your skills and play to limit mistakes while maximizing theirs. It’s that simple.
