The issue is hospital capacity not the lethality of covid 19.
20% of those infected have to be hospitalized.
If it spreads rapidly, the hospitals are overwhelmed and have to chose between a covid patient that can’t breath or a heart attack victim.

Our hospitals don’t have much excess capacity.

China had to frantically build new hospitals to accommodate the surge.

Again, it’s about capacity to serve the 20% of infected people needing hospital care. No one is confusing covid 19 with Ebola which kills half of the infected patients.

None of those were even remotely as contagious as this. It lives on surfaces for far longer than most viruses. Another problem with this virus is that it generally takes weeks for symptoms to really start showing. Meanwhile, you are potentially infecting everyone you come in contact with.

Bottom line, it’s better to err on the side of caution with this. I’ll gladly give up a year of sports to keep people from dying.

Incorrect facts. These positive test came from one group that started testing with test not approved for Covid. Widespread testing hasn’t been and isn’t available. The actual number is likely much larger than published...otherwise such money makers like professional sports teams and disney wouldn’t be voluntarily forfeiting millions of dollars.

Actually, you are the fool because you have fell for the hype. We could eliminate millions deaths by lowering the speed limits to 10 mph but we don’t because that would be stupid. We know that higher speed limits cause more deaths in proportion to speed but we still allow people to drive 70-80 mph knowing that more people will die at these higher speeds. It’s all about a response in proportion to the risk, and what is going on with this Coronavirus is way out of proportion to the risk. I’m not against taking reasonable precautions, but this overreaction is ridiculous.
