Both of Bama's guards weren't big, could handle ball very well & make plays.

Just need some ballers

I don't know if it is coaching or just players not listening to their coach. But last nights loss to Alabama could have easily been a win. there were multiple times that one more pass around the key, or a wide open player was open and no one passed the ball. even the announcers were asking why we weren't giving the ball to KJ and let him go for it.

this is a pieced together team, I get it. but at this point in the season, those things shouldn't be happening. they should be playing as a team and not individuals

During the game thread yesterday while the team was battling 90% of your posts were like "this sucks", "our defense is shite", and a ton of other negative crybaby nonsense.

You are such a downer I think a rebuilding project like the basketball team is not for you. I hope you unplug and don't watch another game for several years and forget the team exists. Just keep your Will Wade picture under your pillow so you can kiss him goodnight.

This off-season is our only hope. We need solid transfers.

Not impressed with our recruits (Chest, Williams) but there are still a couple recruits we could get if we push hard for them.

We signed a decent recruiting class this off season. Tyrell and Jalen could become solid SEC players, we’ll see.

I think MM is a sus coach, but I don’t want to write him off just yet. He inherited a terrible situation, only time will tell if he’s capable or not. After next season we’ll know for sure. Sucks SW gave him a seven year deal.

No one is saying this is a championship level roster. And, once again, NO ONE is or ever was expecting this roster to compete at the top of the SEC. But they simply aren’t competing at all. (Now) 10 straight losses. All but one by double-digits. And that one was to a last place team missing a leading scorer who had not won on the road all season.

If LSU were sitting at something like 4-6 in SEC play with some hard fought losses to the likes of Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, etc, you could say McMahon was probably getting the best he could out of the roster. But that’s not the case.

Was the LSU football roster completely devoid of talent in 2020 and 2021? No. Less than 2019 for sure. But not horrible. Yet they had bad results on the field because of bad coaching. Then, a competent HC came in, with probably a worse roster than in 20 or 21, and won immediately.

That’s what is happening here. This roster should be competing in the middle of the SEC. Instead, we are thankful South Carolina is so bad that LSU can make the claim they are not quite the worst team in the league

KJ wasn't being nearly as aggressive as he needed to be, IMO

Fountain was the only guy driving to basket consistently

I was excited about our starting guards on paper before the season and i thought they’d be a strength. Miller is in a shooting slump and Hill just isn’t a high major player. You can see him penetrate then panic and throw up an awkward attempt because he knows the defenders lurking aren’t OVC players. Had 3 or 4 plays yesterday where he got into the paint then just hummed the ball goalwards with no real precision.

This roster is just not good. Too many “guys” and not enough players

Missouri didn’t have potential sanctions hanging over them. That makes getting players you want harder. A few players that can execute what you’re trying to do can make all the difference, if if they are from Cleveland St. Next season will be telling. It’s players and coaching this year. We’ll see what CMM does to improve.

This last month or so will be very telling. We came out with a better, albeit losing, effort this past week. It sounds pretty pathetic, but this team could salvage 3 maybe even 4 wins if they lock in down the stretch. Will it happen, probably not, but given the absolute dumpster fire we are now, the slight improvement is a decent sign. I just hope we can keep the top few contributors on this team so mcmahon doesn't have to start from scratch again next season

Hopefully whoever gets to transfer in can make shots inside of 6’. Gets me sick watching them miss so many shots in the paint

Memphis had potential sanctions over them. They signed the #1 recruiting class.

Arizona had sanctions hanging over them. They signed a top 10 class.

Hell, from a ranking’s perspective LSU signed a pretty good class coming into this season.

McMahon has just done a really bad job. It is what it is. It doesn’t mean he can’t improve (though there is very little to suggest that will happen). The “leave Matt alone” poster are comprised of 90% of people who are only college basketball fans for approximately 2 months out of the year and don’t really understand the landscape of the sport.

Making excuses is the easiest thing in the world to do which is why we have so many of them here. But they’re just excuses, there’s no substance to them.

The ONLY way LSU is going to be competitive again in men's basketball is to recruit shooters. The players on the court in 2023 have skills for sure but they simply can't shoot! Loved our defense the back end of the game on Sat. but failure to put the ball in the basket from long range is their main "kiss of death." In today's game you must be able to shoot 3 pointers. We have to be last in the league or close to it in that category. Only 1 I see giving it the old college try is Miller.

Yep, there was one play he got all the way to the goal, nice move and he was free and clear yet he must have been anticipating a defender that wasn't there, he banged the layup off the backboard and it didn't even touch rim.

Juice is shoot less than 30% in conference play. He’s simply not good. Cam and Justice W are loads better than him.

MM only plays him because he’s a veteran and was with him at Murray St. Dude should be getting zero minutes.

He’s the absolute worst point guard I’ve ever seen at getting back on D and stopping transition.

I mean yeah - the sample size is well big enough by now that we have all seen he's played way more minutes than he has earned.

Honestly, the statute of limitations on why he played him so much was passed back even before he quit the team and came back. I get the loyalty part and that CMM convinced him to come here and felt the obligation to give him every chance.....that every chance has been given too long.

How does the possibility of sanctions affect a Jr or Sr player?
What about players who just want to be a part of a competitive SEC team. They have no expectations of getting to a tournament.
John Brady built a team with the threat of sanctions. "Draconian Sanctions"

The fact that MM played juice as much as he did and gave Trae zero minutes is just bonkers to me.

At least Trae plays with effort and intensity and can score the ball. Don’t forget we have to thank him for our win against Arkansas.
