Nebraska fired a coach whose team went 10-3 in 2003 and they are still trying to recover. They would never fire Frank Solich again!

He was part of them getting to the National Championship game. That's a huge accomplishment.

O has yet to get to that. He has yet to win the West, let alone the SEC. No, I am not wanting it not to happen. I'm just showing the differences between the two coaches.

O has a lot to get done this season or else the hot seat gets hot. He was hired to do better than Miles. To date, he hasn't done that.

He's done very well, but he hasn't done better than his predecessor.

I really am not trying to be a jerk, I'm not.

But O has more to do to win over most of the fanbase. That's all I'm trying to say.

This is just my opinion. Again, not trying to be disrespectful or a jerk at all.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but luck always plays a part.

2002 might have been a great year for LSU, but we lost a couple of key players and it turned into a mediocre year.

2011, if the ball bounces differently we play Okla St and win a NC.

Why are you using the word ceiling? Year onewith Brady.. still have an average at best offensive line. Still have an average defensive line as well. Key RB are unproven freshmen.

He's going into his third year as the full-time head coach. Plus, he had almost a full season as the interim. Thus, he completely owns those issues you have mentioned. He's no longer in a transition period.

Orgeron has done better than Miles. First of all he took over a dumpster fire of a roster. We had top tier skill talent.. maybe. Because of Fournette and Guice... our top tier WR could not run routes or catch.. we were below average on the DLine and Oline for the SEC. we had more kickers than inside LBs. and we only had 9 offensive lineman.

The roster has been reloaded. The QB room has been built up and we finally have a QB recruiting pipeline.

Had the negatigers and the negative local media not pumped out unfounded crap we would have won two or three more recruiting battles.

Anyway tired of the negative BS

I agree.I think we will be above average on both lines.Very good to great at skill positions on offense.Excellent linebackers, and DB’s.
Anything more than 1 loss will be a disappointment.3 losses a failure.JMHO

This right here and everyone knows what he's doing yet he clings to this so later he can complain that O failed and obviously can't compete at this level.

No, moron. I’m simply holding O to the same standard I held Les to. Les won national championships and still got rightfully fired for going multiple seasons with fewer than 10 regular season wins.

O has won zero hardware. Why the hell do you think he should get 3+ seasons without 10 regular season wins?

Personally I think 10-11 regular season wins is where we end up. 10 wouldn’t be my choice but it’s acceptable because it still shows improvement.
You are the negative one who doesn’t think your coach is capable of winning 10-11 games, but will still argue for keeping him anyway if he never does.

Well, I think people mean that this year is a great season for him to demonstrate his potential. There are so many factors that favor our team this year. At some point, it has to be about turning this potential energy into kinetic energy.

If he faltered this year, he may not have the opportunity to have another shot when the factors line up again. So I see what the OP means. You have to strike when the iron is hot.

Dabo won his conference in three. Look back at my comparison

This is exactly what I'm saying. This roster is built for a good run. I'm not saying Orgeron can't do it. I'm saying it's a guage of what Orgeron is capable of accomplishing. Great coaches find ways to win so let's see what Orgeron can do with, what I think, all the proper alignment of factors for success.

I stated schedule in the post. Our roster lines up as well or better than anyone. Alabama could be the lone exception. I don't disagree with injuries to a degree.

Consider Les Miles. Was his ceiling 2007 when he went 12-2 and won a NC or 2011 when he went 13-1 against a ridiculous schedule and lost the NC?

Touché. I still believe Orgeron will hit his ceiling this year. I’m believe it’s the playoffs. Alignment is there.
