re: This coming year will be Orgeron’s ceiling

If you can’t see the trend diff between where LSU football was when Les was fired vs today I don’t know what to tel you.
Things do seem to be headed in a good direction. Never said otherwise. But doing slightly better than what got the last guy fired doesn’t do a whole lot. This is the year the program needs to take a big step forward.

It was time for change.
No doubt. But the fact remains that Les won championships. O objectively has not come anywhere close to Les’ success here. That’s what I was responding too. That fact can coexist with my belief that O has done a solid job and has things going in the right direction at this point.

He was hired to do as good as Miles, say 8-9 years ago.
He was hired to do better than Miles over his last 3-4 seasons.

still got rightfully fired for going multiple seasons with fewer than 10 regular season wins.
Miles got fired for losing to inferior teams and getting blown out regularly his last 3 years or so, not because he didn't win 10 games.

Measuring the Program against Bama we are almost always going to come up short. Measuring Orgeron against 2005 to 2012 Miles is not realistic. Miles had Sabins roster to start with and had Jamarcus and Flynn. Orgeron inherited a depleted Miles roster and a very very negative media/fan base buzz. Anyway. You guys keep shooting at Orgeron
Again, coach miles had let the program and the roster decline. Yes coach miles had success. LSU performed at an almost Bama level from 2006 to 2012. The program went on a pretty quick return to SEC average after that. For whatever reason LSU could not recruit or develop QBs.
More importantly LSU declined on the line of scrimmage compared to the top, tier of the SEC
Chavis did not recruit. Chavis also preferred smaller lineman
When Orgeron took over there were more kickers than inside LB on the roster. During Aranda tenure we have not had a true 3/4 nose tackle.. probably have at least one now.

Ok. I never said anything about Bama. But they are the gold standard and who we should strive to emulate and then knock off.

Why? Did that era of LSU football not actually happen? Do you not think O is capable of getting us back to that level of greatness?

I’m not “shooting at” anyone. You’ve gotta try and do better than this, man.

This entire narrative is such a fricking lie.
It was completely fabricated for the sole purpose of giving Orgeron an excuse for his failures.
Anyone and everything but the Head Coach formerly known as RECRUITING COORDINATOR is at fault.

“ LSU declined”
What you’re saying is that all this talk about LSU underachieving based off talent the last few years Miles was here was incorrect. LSU actually performed to the level of the talent available and maybe even a little bit better. Interesting thoughts you bring up.
Tell me, who has been on staff since 2015 and actively engaged in bringing linemen to LSU?

We had 8-5 type talent in 2014? Wow.

“Wow”
We were less talented than a depleted Florida in 2016 and Troy in 2017.
I didn’t say I agreed with the guy. Don’t be so negative.

this year is by far O's best chance to shut up a lot of people, including myself, for at least 2-3 years.

he has been told dozens of times that it wasnt true and he keeps posting it.

This issue is not yet. Jury still out. O can flat line and never get past what he has done so far, he can elevate and win at least a division and then conf title if not NT or flame out. Stating that he has not accomplished what the previous two HCs did is the truth. But writing him off this early or claiming glory already is wrong and unreasonable. Let it all play out:).

The story keeps changing. I thought he was fired because he promised boosters to change his offense.

I’ll bet a grand this year is not his ceiling!

NFL qb
2 NFL rbs
nfl olineman
nfl te
nfl wrs
but yet it was depleted.
my God the revisionist history to give ed orgeron a pass is pathetic.
