Man how great was Hester!? I’d love to have another workhorse like him in the backfield. Doesn’t have to be flashy, just a bad arse hard nosed RB that’ll get you 4-5 yards and wear a defense down without having to worry about him fumbling.

Hester vs Florida will forever be one of my favorite LSU moments.

Outside of the Morris/Burrow type NC runs, it's tough to beat.

How many times did he pick up the first on 4th and 1 versus Florida?

Hester personally? On 4th and 1 was only a couple of times IIRC. But, his overall performance that game, particularly in the 4th quarter on the last drive, is full of legendary moments. Along with the 4th down conversions, you've got the truck of Major Wright. Then, he capped it off on 3rd and goal, by punching it in straight up the gut. His whole career, especially the 2007 run of course, included some of my favorite memories of LSU football I'll ever have. Definitely an LSU legend and one of my favorite Tigers.

Didn’t he also start telling the DL what gap they were running to? Or is that just legend? Either way, that was a bad bad man, having a night right when we needed it.

I remember on the college football subreddit there was a thread for the most “unstoppable red zone threats in college football history” and one of the top responses was a Florida fan who said “I’m just here for that white LSU RB #18”

Yep - and I was in the stands for the Cannon Halloween run in 59.

But I still remember the game-long tension with it all on the line and Hester delivering all those 4th down 3 yarders.

Game long tension = unforgettable
