You know what good bosses do with rumors about their employees? Shut them down.

Only after the employee assure the boss they aren't true. If the employee refuses to meet with the boss to even deny the allegations, they get fired.

Admittedly, this is a little different than the typical boss employee scenario, but I'm really not sure what other legitimate option Alleva had. Particularly when his boss, F. King, got involved.

I guess I missed when the tapes of Wade talking about Smart came out prior to 2 months ago? It's quite possible, I don't follow this stuff as closely as football.

Did Will Wade ever say he was gonna run a clean program????? The administration shouldn't expect it if he never said he'd do it.

This has to be the one of the least intelligent posts I have seen in a 24 hour period full of them.

Pretty sure compliance with NCAA rules is in his contract and failure to comply can subject him to termination with cause.

Then LSU can issue a statement that they are monitoring or looking into the situation. They gained nothing but a pile of shite by suspending him yesterday.

I get the reasons why they should, and the tapes are damning, but looking at the forest through yesterday's trees, they should have let the media do their thing and wait until after the season (trial) to make a move. If Wade is guilty, the season will be vacated. What does LSU gain by yesterday's actions at this point? I just don't see the benefit.

Lester, I think you are wrong on this one.

Alleva/F King say “Media Reports Months Ago

If they did nothing when they heard the reports “months ago”, the they have not done their jobs. End of story.

This is the thing that disgusts me more than anything - not that Will Wade didn't do anything wrong, but the fact that every major program in the country pulls about the same shite to get good players. It's all a corrupt system and the NCAA knows it.

They caved to media pressure, of all things, and they are attempting to look less weak be pretending they are standing up to Wade for not talking to them.

100% true. My question is why cant hey fight FOR their employee with this same energy?

Here’s what we know. Wade was caught on tape talking about a “strong offer”.

First report was months ago. Another new report this week.

Wade wouldn’t talk w BoS at LSU about it. So they suspend him.

That’s really all anyone knows

I would say Alleva jumped the gun a bit. But can’t blame him since Wade won’t talk.

PS-those that think the media weilds no power over today’s society, what say you now? This is all over “reports”

Their duty is to protect the school, not Will Wade Wade put himself in this position and is 100% responsible.
You keep repeating the same sentiment everywhere, so here’s to you for consistency. However, the administration knew about this months ago and did nothing then. How the hell do they not own at least partial culpability? Hollow, weak position but again at least consistent.

I agree. When I learned that Wade refused to talk to his bosses about it, I realized he forced their hand. I wish Wade hadn't fricked up with his phone conversation, but I'm sure those types of conversations happen all the time in the world of college basketball recruiting. Those people who are attacking LSU over this are delusional if they don't think every major program in the country uses the same tactics to get players.

If he didn’t talk to the Administration, how did they know about it months ago? He either told them or they read it in the press and opted not to call him in then. You can’t have it both ways.

This isn't complicated. No, it is not illegal. No one is saying it would be illegal. You're missing the point.

Wade and his lawyers have to be prepared for the POSSIBILITY that the administration will throw him under the bus to save their own skin. So Wade can't give them anything that they could possibly twist and use against him, if they should pursue firing him.

I really, really hope that they won't fire him after this "investigation", but Wade's lawyers can't pretend it isn't a possibility.
I read this, and I wonder how anyone is remotely surprised that coach in that spot was suspended.

If he did cheat, they'll certainly gain something when it's time to drop the hammer on us vs if we kept letting him coach.

why couldnt we just stand by our coach like the other programs have done?

Why are we the ones who cave to the big bad NCAA?
