The SEC better hope like hell this federal suit doesn’t get dismissed because, if it does, they have lost a whole lot more than they ever would have gained from it.

That’s what I don’t get. Ole Miss signed a pro basketball player and there is nothing happening with them. All LSU did with football was follow NCAA rules. The rules Sankey didn’t even know about until last week. Blows my mind

Maybe this is unpopular but I am OK with this. We need to have enforceable rules in college football. I am clearly not OK with them kicking us out when we haven't actually broken any rules though. But trying to get control is ok with me.
There is zero, not a single shred of difference from Chambliss to these guys. Once Chambliss was allowed to play, I am 100% onboard with getting these dudes to play for us.
Ole Miss set the precedent, we're just following that precedent that was set that allows for ineligible players to play.

wonder how much they could actually prove in court? I feel like this is all a big bluff to show they are serious and like it or not, we will probably get slapped on the wrist.

I'd gladly take never having these 2 dudes on the LSU roster if we applied this standard across the board, so all players the SEC & NCAA deem ineligible are taken off rosters.
Sign me up for that. I think it's funny that LSU is the bad guy, but I'd bet LSU fans would probably be all for this, remove ALL ineligible players, like....Trinidad Chambliss.

Interesting. What rules/rule has LSU broken. The reference in the lawsuit is to an attempt to get players to sue the NCAA and SEC.
The SEC can't win this and servive an appeal. LSU didn't break any rules. This is ridiculus. They are destroying the conference. OM's QB is playing under a PI stay.

While I get this is all ceremonial and the SEC won't be kicking LSU out or even entertaining it, I still have legal questions about it.
If LSU is enjoined to a lawsuit from the players, and the players have a court order allowing them to play with zero repurcussions and LSU on that lawsuit as well with a court order stating LSU cannot receive repurcussions from playing these guys...
How does this work if the SEC were to win this federal lawsuit that would run counter to the court order that doesn't allow any punishments?

If I was an SEC school I would take serious pause to voting in step with him. A pretty tough precedent to live with. Piss off the King and all of a sudden you are in court. And if that fails the tantrum is continued.

Maybe LSU should demand officials from a different conference at this point. It seems like the SEC is not allowing LSU to follow court orders by forcefully attempting to leverage LSU to make decisions that are not in their best interests, the best interests of a founding member institution of the SEC. It could be assumed that the SEC has intentions of creating administrative pressure that would cause competition to be unleveled because they choose to selectively enforce rules. Multiple examples in this thread from Bama basketball to Ole Miss QB were not disciplined so forcefully in Public. Could it be logically assumed that they would take unfair competitive steps to discipline LSU on the field as well?

I appreciate the sentiment but it would obviously not be good to be kicked out of the conference.
LSU would have an incredibly hard time scheduling good opponents. I know everyone would would point to ND but they have quite a large headstart as an independent

Too many thoughts on this ridiculousness to even post. But Sankey will be the casualty here, it may take a while, but he won’t survive that. I think he may realize that now and he may just be so extraordinarily vindictive that he’s willing to blow the league up, alienate a huge part of the league, including his darling Nick Saban who will be on fire over this. Not to mention that he just shifted ALL the Kiffin scorn onto the league. And imagine doing it over the sanctity of “ amateurism “ in a league where players make millions of dollars and the “ pros “ in question may have received $50 bucks US and a pat on the butt.
