You continually live up to your handle. Should be prefaced with "negative". Why do you even follow LSU or this board if all you want is to bitch and make snide remarks?

For those that to don't live west and are bashing on the Robinson name, you have no clue. John Robinson hasn't paid for a drink, dinner, car or home in SoCal since he coached at USC

Sounds like Reggie Bush during his time at USC.

Not that what I'm going to say applies to this case, but yes you can have too many consultants.

If you're a decider so to speak, you don't need 500 different voices in your head giving you advice. You need a select few credentialed confidants that you trust. More isn't always better.

They do not. But their coaches and parents probably do, so it can only help. I just dont know to what capacity he can speak to them is all.

They could just google him.

These kids coming from HS have no clue who he is.

Well, it's a good thing when coaches recruit they are not just recruiting the kids, they are recruiting parents as well. And I'd venture to say most of their parent are well aware who John Robinson is.

When will you damn people realize that Robinson is only a assistant to the coach. His job will be to sit around and drink coffee with O. He cannot recruit, on or off campus. No analyst can recruit. He cannot have any contact with recruits what so ever. Only the 10 assistant coaches can contact recruit.

If you put some thought in this maybe the recruits parents and grandparent know who Robinson is.

But Robinson can speak with HS coaches. The HS coach is almost always the gatekeeper for elite recruits. I can't imagine a coach on the West Coast who would not be delighted to take Robinson's call.

sure, and he will be a good sounding board for Orgeron and and give him opinions behind closed doors that others can't. I think it is invaluable to have someone like this no matter what kind of a leadership role someone is in. It keeps them grounded. I just can't get over these ignorant people on here thinking that Robinson will be going in homes and recruiting and such.

Err no. I am 49 and I can remember JR coaching USC and LA Rams. You don't have to be 60s to know and remember that.

This here. In the coaching world it is very good for optics. JR still has his senses and he forgot more about HCing than coaches half his age may ever know. If Robinson can give some advice on how to handle jugernauts like the current Bama program then another bonus. He should. He actually beat Bama and Bear in '78 to force a share of the NC.
