I would guess Lod Cook would be #1.

Pat Taylor's wife is the richest person in LA, so if she is an alum I would put her in the top 5 easily.

James Flores and Jim Bernhard have serious money put are not in Cook's league yet.

The Manships and Pennington's money has been split more than once through inheritances so it's just too divided for any one person to be #1.

Dr. Andrews has done incredibily well and is a credit to LSU, but not in the conversation with the above.

Dr. Andrews?

Oddly enough, my dad is having his rotator cuff operated on by Andrews at this very moment. He went in one hour ago.

good luck to your dad.

side note: agreed that the 'big' money are people you probably don't know about. They also may or may not give money to the university.

I haven't heard Emmet Stephenson mentioned. He gave a large chunk a year or so ago. He and his his wife both are worth plenty. Gave 35 million last year alone. Just not high profile as alot of the ones mentioned above.

Here's a link to schools with the most billionaires alums.
Surprised that neither Cal Tech nor MIT are on that list; I guess the guys inventing the future don't make as much as the ones that market it . . .

Pretty sure Millard is a Baylor alum and he is not a billionaire. Very rich, but not a billionaire.

I always read this. He is a huge LSU fan and supporter. He works as the medical director for Auburn...it's a job. He was the graduation speaker at LSU in December for the College of Science. He totally funds at least 2 or 3 scholarships for LSU "pmed students" in the college, is in the Hall of Distinction. He donates plenty to the university. He is not in the Lod Cook realm, but he's been very generous.

He has participated in LSU PR ads and promotions like this: LINK.

quote:

I'm just glad to be along for the ride, and I've been very fortunate to be in the right place," said Andrews. "It all started here at LSU; I owe my whole career to this university."

I've heard Patrick F. Taylor's wife is possibly the richest person in the state of Louisiana - and she may be the only in-state billionaire. No idea if she went to LSU though, but clearly they donate a good bit of money to the university...

I can assure you that there is a billionaire in louisiana, edison chouest - kids never went to LSU but the man is worth LOTS!
