Everyone knows that. The op’s point is he wouldn’t have to do it since pay for play is so easily hidden under the mask of NIL.

It was easily hidden by having boosters and bag men. Will Wade is just a fricking moron for doing what he did by having no middle man. End of story.

Nick Saban was an a-hole with a long term million dollar contract. He was allowed the freedom to do things his way. He didn't have to share high school talent like he did at Michigan State. Louisiana is a football state. Always will be. Basketball may not even be second.

You mean we need a typical Woody hire? You think he wouldn't have if he could have last year?

That doesn’t really change anything the op said or that I clarified. Your case of Wade rage is noted but all of these things are undeniably true so there’s really no reason to get upset.
1. Wade was dumb
2. NIL is a joke
3. Because of #2 pay for play now is infinitely easier than even the old bag man route and everyone knows it

or, LSU boosters/ bagmen were not setup for him to succeed with his level of recruiting so he had to take care of it himself. IMO, that says more about LSU's inability to support a coach that was willing to do what it takes.

Energy that translates to the court.
The #1 problem with McMahan is that he looks like he's on Valium.

No energy or fire at all.

That translates to every aspect of the program, including the fan base.

Give him 2023 and if there's no significant improvement, cut bait........

With this year's team it's attitude. There's no sense of confidence and swagger, even though there is talent.

Just the complete opposite of Texas A&M. A&M is Adonis Creed to LSU's Chuck Wepner.

Lead the nation in NIL money for basketball and you will see a great BB program, even with the coach we have presently. It is all about $$$$ in college sports these days.

In men's basketball your culture is poison and the current coach is clearly not strong enough to fix it.

The way our good ole boys network is on the basketball program, you'd assume this were a top 5 program all time.

Instead they push for guys like Johnny Jones to lead the team.

I can tell you with 100% certainty Dale Brown had this support in the 80’s. HANDS DOWN HAD THIS. Holier than thou Dale Brown who was constantly shuffling paper in and out THROUGH OTHER PEOPLE - BOOSTERS.

Saban was not larger than life when first hired.
I remember watching Saban's first press conference live in 1999. It was basically a "y'all need to shut the frick up and listen" in a very dry, Saban-esque manner. He wasn't placating to the old culture and politics. I knew right then we had a coach.

You nailed it Scott.

I will add that if LSU had a powerful enough AD he could put the old guard in check himself. Alas he doesn't have it in him.

The kids are going to transfer before you get any good. Every situation is unique, every job is unique and you have to figure out how you can win at that place. Whatever it may be."

Will Wade 1/30/23

Yeah, I get that he said it.

He's wrong.

Will Wade was fired because he didn't have the political pull to survive all that NCAA stuff. You see other coaches who did have that pull and they survived it.

Culture matters. Whether he or you get it or not, it matters.

Make a list of elite Louisiana recruits during Wade’s tenure.

Louisiana as a basketball recruiting hotbed is ancient history.

You clearly did not read my post, which DID emphasize his resume when he got here.
You’re not creating your own bullshite stories here where you are accustomed to selecting your own facts as they suit you.

You said Saban wasn't "that guy" when he got here, and you're categorically wrong about that

As for the rest of your meaningless babbling, whatever makes you feel better.

nah it was reasonable of him as an american citizen to believe, for example, his private phone conversations would remain private. he cant expect there would literally be a federal case listening to him violate basketball rules. that the feds bothered to pursue this frivolity is obscene.

and we could have just kept wade anyways. i blame wade none, i blame president tate, and i blame the activists at southern district NY for even working the case. utter waste of time and taxpayer money
