re: The "Rally Opossum" Needs to End UPDATE #2 I ALSO SUPPORT PETA

I posted in this thread earlier, and I'm not gonna read all the replies at this point- I'm sure you're getting killed for this 
Objectively, you not only can't complain about "Rally Possum", you should cherish it. Seriously.
Baseball is a funny game, you want highly skilled athletes to play in a very relaxed and confident mindset. That frame of mind makes all the difference in the world.
Prior to the possum incident, this was a talented team that was struggling to break out. A couple of weeks ago, there was real concern that LSU might not host a regional, or be the 1 seed in that regional. Getting out of that regional was considered probably the best we'd see.
Possum incident- LSU getting drilled 9-1 by a bad Arkansas team, another ho-hum "we're not ready" bit of evidence. The comeback in that game was monumental... but still against a bad opponent. But you had the odd connection to the possum involved, which made it a little silly and prime bait for an urban legend or superstition.
Then LSU followed with a run, and the legend grew.
Cut to now- team is playing at the highest level, have just finished taking 3 of 4 from what otherwise would be the consensus #1 team in the country. Whenever things get tight, you got the "rally possum", which relaxes the team, and also reminds them that they can overcome anything.
Rally Possum might be the little edge that carries this team to a CWS title, instead of having gone through a rather disappointing rebuild season.

Is it so ridiculous to think that this team had the talent all along? Shows how much of a mental game baseball is. A stuffed animal possum is not the reason they won. They just needed some confidence.

These are young athletes. They have embraced the possum. I think what you are saying is true; they can loosen up as in,
"Kramer, shite, man don't worry about those errors, Da Possum got dis!" Laughter ensues and Kramer gets a game winning hit.
What ever, but this has been a lot of fun. I know even the announcers are getting a kick out of it.
