that’s a well blocked play, he has to make that cut and he just isn’t.
You and op are right on

From that perspective, yep he was trying to make a fournett move…. Just get into the open grass until you need to hit someone…..

Lack of balance and lateral moves. He is a straight ahead runner.

Yes I saw that play live and thought he easily could’ve scored on that play with some vision or at the very least break off a long run

Some players take longer to mature than others. Visio is something that comes naturally up some like Durham but it can be worked on. I’m not ready to give up on KJ but he now has 3 games of film he can watch and hopefully learn an improve because he checks all the other boxes. Never know. Light might go on during a game and boom you’ve got 2 dangerous weapons.

agree with you. He looks stiff, just think being a little lighter would help with lateral movement.
Has everything to do with vision and literally nothing at all to do with his size. This is just stupid on your part

I said this other day. He looks slow because he lacks vision. His holes are not huge and he never had great vision to begin with. Williams does the same thing. There was a run near the end of the game where Williams just looked for contact instead of making one cut to the outside he would've walked into the endzone. Our RBs are seriously lacking.

He returned kicks last year. I doubt he is too slow.
It happened in this last game he broke out for a run and then got easily caught from behind. It has happened more than once this year

Then you're a football genius too. Congrats!

Thanks for posting. There 5 other runs just like that with he and Williams. Line blocked it up perfect and they get no gain to 4 yds.. when big gainers are there on outside
I get what you’re saying and mostly agree, but the line didn’t “block it up perfectly” relative to where the run was designed to go. Which happens. But they did block it off even better than hoped and caused a huge scrum up the middle which left a ton of wide open grass to the left. Carter has some end zone shots of a couple of those. Durham sees it and naturally bounces it outside for a big gain. Jackson never saw it to bounce it out, because he was running with his head down to the hole the play was originally designed for.
I think most of that is just innate instinct. But remember Jackson missed all his Sr. Season in high school with an injury and hasn’t gotten many carries in 2 years here. So it’s been since his Jr. year in high school that he was getting consistent game carries. He may just need more carries to get more confidence to play more free and instinctual. It’s almost like he’s trying not to mess up, which slows him down.

I'll get blasted for this, but I've never thought Frank Wilson was some great position coach. He's an elite recruiter and we take his average coaching of the position with that.
Blast away.
Blast away.

This was clearly visible real time. If he bellies out toward the hash and gets north/south, he either get 30 yards or takes it to the house. It was an easy read. He doesnt even have congestion at the LOS to alter his view.

Avoid contact until absolutely necessary. Hopefully Frank Wilson is good at film study and can present this information in a way it gets through to him.

Agreed. I saw that play Saturday and thought "WTF is he doing?" He had a huge hole on the right.

Move him to linebacker
Yes. This once we get Trey Holly back. He could be the thumper in the middle our D needs.

lol so it’s Frank’s fault KJ just put his head down and ran right into the defender ?
But he has nothing to do with Durham being ready to contribute as a freshmen?

Kaleb is the type of back that needs to line up 7 yards in the backfield and be running full speed into the line. Handing it off to him out of the shotgun is not his bread and butter.

Lester he never had to develop! He played against no real competition
