I'm sorry but for him and the team to act so arrogant in the dugout after hitting a homerun knowing they needed help to do it is pure shite!

his reputation is ruined. somethings you can't come back from, at least not 100%.

if i had to chart a course for him, it would be to get out of Houston (which i understand may be a contractual problem). the reality is the Astros also have an image problem. Players for the astros in those seasons that moved on dont seem to have quite the same shame cast on them.

If Bregman could go somewhere else and do really well, after a few years im sure he would largely make this an asterisk.

Last year Bregman was almost the MVP and the years under question are 2017 and 2018.

I have mentioned this before and will continue to but do you know why no one is questioning the 2019 Astros? Because the MLB knowing good and well teams were using technology to steal signs and made changes. No teams were allowed to put cameras in the outfield unless for tv feeds and all tv feeds to The clubhouse/dugout were put on an 8 second delay.

SI article from 2019

Frick Alex Bregman! He didn't cheat at LSU, so he's dead to me!

we are talking about image and perception. the average MLB fan with these perceptions of the astros and astros stars arent likely to also mentally reference SI articles and variations between seasons. they associate the astros bregman altuve et al with cheating.

This is definitely true

Now, how about you develop a system where the catcher can communicate electronically with the pitcher. Easy, ear piece with the pitcher, catcher has a arm band with buttons and pushes the number of the pitch he wants and boom, the pitcher hears "1" in his ear and done. Changing pitchers? New guy has his own ear piece paired with separate arm band, catcher changes arm bands

And while you're at it, ditch these power-tripping, thin-skinned umps and bring in the electronic umps.

The MLB messed up bigtime here. The players like Bregs and Altuve should’ve been given maximum suspensions. If theydve done that instead of a slap on the wrist fine fans could’ve said they served their time and can move on. Of course it falls on Bregman, he did the dirt but Manfred is a terrible commish and really screwed this up.

They instituted a delay in all video feeds to the clubhouses going into 2019 season because of it.

This is correct. Any monitor within 15 seconds walking distance from the dugout required a 7 second delay. The only room with a monitor closer than 15 seconds to the Astros dugout is the instant replay room, which has an MLB representative monitor that rules are being followed. In 2017, there was a monitor right outside of the dugout.

According to what I’ve read, the players’ collective bargaining agreement prohibits player discipline by the commisioner in a situation like this unless it can be proven the players themselves initiated the setting up of the equipment used in the sign stealing.

But a team’s management can be punished regardless if the manager/GM participated in or even knew about the sign stealing.

Really, that’s interesting. Do you think season long suspensions or say 80-100 games would’ve kinda given the feel of contrition to fans? I think throwing them out forever like I heard some suggest is too much but what they ended up with is going to infuriate fans. I’m a Bregman fan and I think it’s terrible, both for fairness and for Bregman. I think the image is unshakable now that he’s not going to be punished.

What I think about a hypothetical situation isn’t important. It is what it is. I’ll leave it to you to be in charge of virtue signaling.

Ah yes, almost forgot you’re a douche rag incapable of a conversation with someone you’ve had a disagreement with. Lol holding grudges against anonymous people, what a pathetic existence.

And your constant belligerence, juvenile name calling and anger at anyone who disagrees with you on a message board should embarrass you. But I’m sure it doesn’t. At least your screen name is appropriate.

What was Breg’s home vs away BA? What is the typical home vs away BA?
This could tell a lot.
