You can forget him running the ball. It is programmed into him NOT to run the ball and that is not something that’s going to change at this point in his career.

Mentally, “he can’t”. The only way to get him to start running is a call place to force him to run. Forget about him running when it’s a pass play.
Refusal to run at all on a pass plays only hurts his passing. Teams not respecting a QB running possibility can focus more on on coverage.

This is what was so disappointing. Anyone can have an off night physically. This showed the stark reality that he won't make that next leap.

Just starting to wonder if Nuss is afraid to get hit on a run or maybe he is playing slightly hurt?
No one expects him to run like JD or Joe B., but his inability to run is going to allow defenses to key on this factor to shut down our passing game. Really starting to look like we finally have a stout defense, so the offense, starting with Nuss, is 'off' this year. Kelly is not going to tell us if Nuss is hurt, but unless he becomes more mobile, no way will we be a playoff team and he can forget the Heisman talk and high drafting position by NFL...

He needs to learn if nobody is open, throw the ball away.

He constantly turns his back on his opponent and then gets surprised when he turns back around again in a weaker position. You can't see behind you (particularly with a helmet on which cuts your peripheral vision).
YOU NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON YOUR OPPONENT! Make this one change and his scrambling would look 100% better.

Whatever happened to Van Buren?

Yes it might have been nice a few times. But he didn’t need to run. We were never in danger of losing the game.
Had he run and gotten hurt… then what? In games like this, you accept what amounts to practice runs against live competition. You work on the passing game. That’s what he did.

He can. He doesn't. Needs to or it will cost us.

You people are clueless. Without Nuss LSU's offense would be DOA.
DID everybody miss the 1st-and-goal from inside the 5 yard-line last night? LSU had to settle for a FG. Tigers don't have much of a running game, and the OL can't protect Nuss long enough for him to throw downfield like he did last year. He has to roll out even on the intermediate throws.
But, I guess it would take Nuss getting injured before most of you would find out that he's 80% of our offense.

I think you are wrong. Not a single pass over 25-30 yards he tried to throw a bomb last year every chance he got now this year he hasn’t went deep yet. Warming up throwing high camera showed him wincing. I think some info will be out soon just not throwing deep like he has someone else has to have noticed.

Nussmeir has to run when he can do so safely. Last night when he rolled left he could have easily picked up ten or more yards but heaved a pass into the deep corner of the endzone. If he refuses to run, play Van Buren at times to attempt to generate a running game. I would play van Buren or Johnson every time we had a first down from the five yard line in.

I’d also love to see the kid throw it away every now and then…

Why not?

He could run it in on the first touchdown at the end of the first quarter. Glad he made a perfect throw there but running would have been a much higher percentage play on 3rd down. Not only that but it was 3rd and 6 from about the eight so 1st down if nothing else.

He looked like he was making his first start last night: high throws, late throws, throwing off his back foot, absolutely refusing to run for easy first downs. That interception set the tone for the game. Should have been an easy touchdown, instead, turnover. Baffling.
