We hung 40 on our last 3 opponents. they didnt score 40 pts combined. that's dominant.

Dominant? You can't be that stupid.

We scored 39 a game, gave up 10, went undefeated on the SEC, and in doing so we out scored our SEC brothers 322-77.

If that's not dominant to you, you can be that stupid.

My point is not to denigrate the 2011 LSU Tigers. I loved that team. That was a great team.

My point is simply to see the game vs. Alabama on 1/9 in a bit of a different light. We just didn't have that much to work with from the QB position. It is really amazing that the team was as good as it was.

Now, as for this season, if Mett struggles some at the beginning with a new offense and we don't hang half a hundred on TCU in the first game, we can remember how JLee fared against Oregon and realize that it is a long season with a lot of football still to be played.

Yeah, I'm ready for it to start.

First real action he had seen since 2008.

He got better during the season except for Alabama but I believe he was looking over his shoulder knowing one mistake and jj would be in I'm really disappointed les did not put him in at halftime on 1/09

Rewatch the SEC champ game and the BCS title and get back to me. Pretty sure JJ broke the record for the lowest total of passing yards in both games.

I think he's referring to the first four games of '11 (Oregon, NWSt, MSU, and WVU). Three of the the first four games were non-home games against ranked teams (I think State was ranked). With JJ suspended, it was either Lee, Mett, or TrueFr Rivers.

This isn't completely true. Lee threw a great TD pass to Byrd in '08 and was QB on a long TD drive vs Bama in '09. Also made a clutch 3rd and 13 pass vs Bama in '10.

Should mention that Peyton Manning never beat UF and Tebow never beat Auburn. That's only part of the story. While Lee usually played bad vs Bama what's the point in isolating one opponent?

Without Lee . . .
We lose to AU and likely Troy in '08 (losing season and no bowl)
We lose to UTenn, UF, and very possibly Bama in '10.
Who knows in '11?

Ok, but it's 95% true.

You can cherry pick it all you want, but Lee's career against Alabama was ridiculously bad as anyone can see if they look at his stats against them.

So?

I liked Lee. He played some good games.

That doesn't mean he didn't crap out against Alabama in 08, 09, and 2011 and I really don't see how anyone can deny that with a straight face.

It never should've been Bama in the first place. We beat them. On the road. That should've been the end of it. I'll go to my grave saying this.

That's why you play the regular season, so the wins mean something. I don't care how freaking good Bama is. We beat them. Bring in the next team in line. If it's a slaughter, then it's a slaughter.

Didn't stop Bama from being put up against an overranked ND team.

"But ND was undefeated!" Right, thanks to a botched call in their Stanford game that would've given Stanford the win and they also had to go to 3 OT's to beat a horrible Pittsburgh team. This is where I think the S.O.S. needs to count. The voters didn't seem to care about that being a slaughter. So why was it apparently different for LSU?

But Bama has a huge history so we'll make an exception.

Take the Nov. 5 game in Tuscaloosa. Keep everything the same, the stats, everything, just that we drop it and they win. Same score, all that happy crap.

The results of the games from there for both teams remains the same. Think we'd get a rematch? Not a snowball's chance in hell.

That's why the wins during the season need to count IMO.

Ok, enough of my rant. *steps off soapbox

I'm certainly not trying to defend bad play, only making the point that it is a flawed approach to assess someone's career by a single play, single game, or single opponent.

I cherry-picked some plays. You cherry-picked the opponent.

Lee's play vs. LaTech in '09 was the worst performance by an LSU QB that I saw in person. But his career was more than a single game.

Nope.

I entered this thread when a poster stated it was terrible that Lee didn't a get a shot to play in the second Alabama game.

Lee is a cool dude and played some good games for LSU, but not against Alabama.

2010. Both Qb's played well in that game.

that's what happens when a QB only has 2 weeks to prepare with the first teamers because your starting QB decided to go full retard.

We didn't need him to look good, we just needed him to not hurt us and that's what he did. Managed the game well enough that it didn't hurt us and our playmakers made plays.

Uh, because we're discussing whether or not he should have played AGAINST ALABAMA.

And yet we know, for an absolute, undisputable fact, that JJ shite the bed against Bama on 1/9. Oh well, it was only the natty. No use in trying anything else to shake things up. If we did, and it did not work out, we may have lost.

Exactly. I thought he should have been given a shot the 2nd series of the 3rd quarter of the bowl game. But most likely we would have simply fared worse. He got a 'deer-in-the-headlights' look in the first UA game and I doubt anything would have changed.

I don't think anyone will tell you that JL was an all star. I also don't think he was even worlds better than JJ. But the team played for him. Look at our offensive production with him in the FULL game verses when JJ was in. As the season went on and JJ got more and more PT the total limpness of the offense quickly set in.

OM and Arkansas were our most dominant games of the year. Easily.
