The Mercy knee

With the 2026 season on the horizon I’ve been deep diving into past seasons and the 2011 ole miss game came to my attention. Kneeing it 4 times in a row at the 1 yard line with 5 minutes left might be the funniest sequence of events I’ve witnessed in LSU sports. I still wonder what the logic was there from Les miles. 52-3 utter domination in the opposing teams stadium and then to add insult to injury we just willingly gave them the ball back rather than scoring. Absolutely hilarious. F ole miss

I also love their greatest team to that point in 2014 coming to town only to get upset by an 8-5 LSU team.
Time after time LSU has just crushed ole Miss dreams. They’re the ultimate little bro.
Other notable examples:
2016, 2020, 2022, 2024, Kiffin
They’ve always hated LSU and this Kiffin move just really pushed it up even more. Hilarious if you ask me. They hate us the way we hate Bama. No doubt.

There was nothing funny about the 25-23 LSU loss to Ole Miss on the same field, just two years earlier. I still get nightmares thinking bout the last 4-5 plays of that game and how Miles bolloxed an almost sure win.

Wasn't it really called to punish Mett for calling an audible the play before?

2003 was the ultimate dream crusher. They were undefeated with Eli going into a late November game with us @ ole miss. Mauck even threw an early pick 6. But we still won the game and went on to the SEC championship game because we had the head to head tie breaker. We beat, Georgia there, then Oklahoma for the National Championship. ole miss fans still cry about that year and how "it shoulda been them"
The ULTIMATE little bro move by them is that they claim the Co 2003 SEC West Champs and display it proudly. Understandable I guess since that's the last banner they "won".

This is off-topic to the Mercy Knee game. If you'd like to discuss another game, start a thread about it.

I remember this. Say what you want about Les time here that he squandered talent but man did he deliver some entertaining games because you never knew what was going through his head. Sometimes you'd want to run your head through a wall and then there's moments like this where you can't help but laugh since he was trolling.

OM's last opportunity in 4Q ended when Chad Lavalais bull rushed the OM center who had to step back and right on Eli's foot to make him land flat on his @ss. At least the OM fans I encountered after the game were decent unlike that Georgia fans earlier that year in BR.

It's actually related to the "mercy knee" discussion, as the two games have one common denominator -- Les Miles -- and his capacity for making mind-blowing decisions, particularly at the end of games.

Yes. We were supposed to run a slow, plodding drive and use the entire clock. That play was originally ruled a touchdown and Les called a TO to get it reviewed and overturned.
Mett is a classic example of million dollar arm, ten cent head.

We gave them the third L.
If they win they're 8-0 in conference play and win the West. Instead they were just co-champions, something Gerry Dinardo accomplished twice in five years. But they still hung a banner.
