Not necessarily better depth at RB, but better talent. I believe the interior OL is also improved. We've heard that Sloan is focused this offseason on making the running game more multiple - running game scheme doesn't get much more vanilla than what we had last year.

It will be better because It would be hard to get much worse. We also look to have a real center that will help the entire line. But time will tell.

The addition of Atkins from FSU as TE coach and running game coordinator should help Sloan with game planning a better rushing attack

I hate to be the bringer of reality in this optimistic buffer zone in time but…..

LSU’s run game is more likely to be worse than last year. Many positions are a gamble right now across the board, offensive line specifically. Play calling & blocking scheme last year was also pretty freaking bad at times. Makes you wonder if all the ships are sailing in the same direction or even know what ocean they are in. All falls on the OC

RUN frickING POWER SLOAN!

We lost 4 OL with two drafted in the Top 50 but we will be better? I hope you are right.

Our biggest issue was not play calling. their were many times KJ had the daylight but didn't make the cut. Durham got injured and hampered his ability and combine that with an overmatched freshman center and TE that didn't block well and you can easily identify your problem. Not to mention so ma ytimes Nuss could have kept it and ran for 10 - 20 yds. I think blockingat center and TE will be much better thi syear, I think KJ dropping lbs and learning to run to day ligh talong with a healthy Durham will make a big difference and I expect Nuss to use his legs in opportunistic situations this year to keep the defense on its toes. When the LB or DE doesn't have to worry about the QB they can focus all of their attention on RB, Won't be the case this year. Hell at one point we had a freshman center and LG. But they did improve by the end of the year.Looking for better from them as Sophomores.

If we can run on Clemson, we'll be a hard team to beat. They have some Dawgs in their front 7

Bottom line-Sloan needs to create a better running scheme

If the run game improves, it’s because the OL got better at run blocking. OL play is way more important for run game success than RB talent.

I noticed later in the season last year that the sub OL were better at pulling and getting to the second level on blocks. It just appeared that the OL we started were so ingrained to pass block that they were just not skilled at run blocks (i.e. too damn slow)

I also noticed several times that runs were called at the LOS and the OL just sat there when the ball was snapped like it was a pass play. Is this play design or poor adjustment by the OL blocking scheme.

Brad Davis has been a terrible run block coach for most of his career. JD5’s insane running abilities covered up for that in 22’ and 23. Once he left, the problems became more visible. Davis better step it up this year with run-block performance or GTFO.

BECAUSE.......Alex Atkins was hired to hold Sly Croom's hand and show him how to coach an effective running game. He's supposed to be the TE Coach, but does he have any experience coaching TE's? BK should have just hired a competent OL Coach and a competent TE Coach to coach the TE's. Nobody should be comfortable with this arrangement, including BK. If we still can't run the ball with Harlem Berry, Caden Durham and a 15 pounds lighter Kaleb Jackson, there's something severely dysfunctional in the coaching department......

How do you figure? All four of our starters from last year in the pros.

Thanks for all the feedback! I’m cautiously optimistic for an improved run game. Geaux Tigers!

Lack of a deep threat allowed teams to use an extra defender in the run game. Another contributing factor to run game woes.

We definitely need better run blocking to take some pressure of Nuss….if so, this offense could rival 2019. Not better but just as fun..

What is the general consensus for the run game this year going forward?

Great question, Sloan has to stay out of his pass-run-pass rut that he occasionally falls into. First and foremost, the interior oline can’t get whipped at the point of attack.

Not because of the tackles. It was the interior oline.
