The irony of CFB now is that it would be perfectly set for Miles' approaches to win

Miles' biggest downfall was QB development while at LSU. After his inherited QBs from Saban and Jimbo were out, his squads went to utter garbage at the QB position.
His OCs were also playcallers who needed developed players to succeed.
It is crazy to think about how a Crowton or Cameron could do now with the transfer portal providing already-developed QBs who could push teams to the top.
Les was just ahead of his time by a little too much.

The Perriloux fiasco pushed two good but not-ready QBs to the forefront. Both Lee and Jefferson were ruined by 2008. And Les to a lesser degree (pun marginally intended).
Lee with the Bama PTSD, and Jefferson with shifting from primarily a passer, as he was in HS, to a guy who relied a little too much on his athleticism.
I think the success of the 2011 regular season, combined with the NC game debacle, finished the job on Les and eroded (just enough) LSU's built-in recruiting advantages.

Miles still handcuffed the playcalling. The one year post Jarrett Lee Pick 6 marathon we threw the ball effectively we had Mettenberger/Jarvis/OBJ/Jeremy Hill.
That wasn't a great playcalling year, it was a ridiculous talent year.

I hear this trope every year now.
Yeah Michigan won recently with a Miles like offense but they also cheated and knew the opponents calls.
Additionally Miles offenses sucked because they could never play complimentary football. They could pound the rock but could never back off the LBs and safeties with passing because out QBs were inept and the system was not favorable to them.
1D offenses usually suffer, in every iteration across the country. You need variability.

Even when he was here he was "ahead of his time" in a paradoxical way but had he kept Crowton and had Perriloux not gotten hurt he may have kept rolling. If you look back at the 2007 National Championship game, we were running 2 different offenses. Crowton's shotgun and Les's I-formation, which I would wager was the primary reason Crowton left or was pushed out. It may have worked when they mixed it up and afterwards the toss-dive was effective for a few years, but teams figured it out and you needed a perfect defense.
He let Cam run the offense for a few games in 2013 but we still scaled back the pass due to our secondary being under-par that year. And even when we had Jamarcus and Mett we were sloppy and unprepared for a lot of games.

I agree but for a 100% different reason.
With the size of defenses now we’d maul people on the ground.
I form is so rare nowadays that no one is used to defending it.
It would be like 2011

miles took over in 2010. that is why we ran 68% of the time. go read what crowton said after he left after 2010.
JJ could not run crowtons offense in 2009. thus the issues and change miles made. instead of getting a QB who could run GC system.
