They come back to the Deaf Dome February 10th. Maybe it'll snow again

The players, Mickey and Martin especially, were so into it with the crowd, begging for more.

Quarterman too. It was a good vibe when they came back from being down 12

You can spout IF's all day but we won't win many games with our bigs taking shots 15+ feet from the basket. Get their asses on the post and let's use our size and talent!

So did most people think Kansas deserved the #5 preseason ranking or did some people think they were overrated to begin with?

Mickey is money on the mid range jumper. I dont think I saw him miss one all night. He pushed it out a little too far to try his hand at some 3s but he needs to keep taking that mid range jumper.

From ESPN Recap

quote:

LSU: The Tigers rallied for a victory from a double-digit halftime deficit for the first time in two seasons. LSU only won three times last season when it trailed at halftime.

Hopefully this team can play clutch and win those close games that we've dropped in past years.

I agree with the mid range 12ft jumper but he also needs to get more touches underneath the basket. That goes for Martin and Robinson too!

The fact that we're in those close games is the problem

My honest opinion, This team looked totally out of sync. I don't believe Gray and Hornsby will play much worse.Mickey played like Mickey, Martin still plays too far outside and takes to many 3's. Quarterman shouldn't be allowed to shoot 3's until he can make some shorter shots consistently. Our defense is still too soft up the middle. But the good news is the talent is there to make a run.

They looked the same as they did last year, sloppy, bad shots, undisciplined, guys not were they needed to be. Yep, Martin still playing too far outside, and quarterman shouldn't ever shoot the ball. The talent is there, Jones is the only thing that could stand in the way

This team has talent, but needs time to gel.
That's now the yearly cry from L.S.U. Basketball Sunshine Pumpers.

They came back and beat Texas Tech at home.

Now lets see what the future holds in the S.E.C. for Alleva's $400,000 "Raise without a Cause" man.

When is the last time this team has had talent?

I liked what I saw last night for it being the 2nd game of the season. Jones is putting together talent that we haven't seen in a while. I do agree with the post about getting the bigs down low for more high % shots. Guard play was descent by Gray but needs to become more of a floor general. He's got he tools to be special IMO. The bench is really reeeeallly thin but with a little more contribution than what we saw last night it can be good enough. All and all, regardless of TTU's talent they're coached at the highest level and we beat them. I'm excited about this team and what's to come.

I think Gray was a big part of the problem we saw last night with the team. Hear me out- early on he was forcing things and trying too hard. I think it was because he was playing against his former team and he wanted to have a good showing. That seemed to get everyone out of sync.

I think he is going to be a great leader for this team. And if he's in control the rest of the team will be in sync.

And since I'd wager we won't play TT again this season, I'd bet we won't see him pushing so hard in other games and we will play more settled as a team.

That said- when the threes aren't falling- just run some offense and get the ball to Martin or Mickey inside the arc. Good things will happen.

another situation in which they showed very little basketball smarts was the middle portion of the second half. they came out attacking the basket early on and got to the bonus in like two minutes. then tech switches to a zone and we stopped attacking and started taking stupid jumpers again. how do you not continue to attack knowing the free throws are guaranteed?

Well I mean you answered your own question, we stopped attacking because we couldn't find driving lanes against their zone. Our zone offense is pretty stale right now, we run that 3 out 2 in X out but we don't seem to really look into the high post all that much and instead want to jack up bad shots. When they were in man we were confident taking our guy to the rim but you can't just go 1 on 1 when the other team plays a zone and we don't have a good handle on TEAM offense yet. Honestly I'm surprised it took them so long to go back to the zone, thank god we hit a few shots late to stretch it out

I'd be willing to bet you've never played basketball at any competitive level.

I'm happy we won the game. I like when we win, and I hope we win them all.
