Bashing your own team just to snipe at Wade just seems bizarre to me.
Doing that to any coach is bizarre but it happens. It's especially bizarre when the coach wins a lot. There are things you could snipe at Wade about but winning is not one of them. All the personality and excitement in the world would not have made as popular as his winning did. And all of this is coming from me, someone who is not the biggest Wade fan. I would take him back in a heartbeat now, though.

There are few guys that I know that have spoken with people close to him including his wife and they say he doesn't hold any grudge against LSU for firing him. I now believe that door is open it's just a question of would Tate allow it. I don't even think Woodward is beyond hiring him back.

I really liked him knowing how lucky LSU was to hit on the hire and what we’d likely get if we didn’t have him. I did critique him same as any coach still understanding that he was young and would improve. IMO the hate comes from non basketball fans who are just trying to absolve LSU for firing him and that’s fine but I don’t get the bashing of success as part of it.

Yeah, I don't think they have to try that hard, I think LSU felt they had no choice. We can argue all day long about whether that was true or not. Ultimately, if the people in charge honestly felt football was in peril, they would have done what they did probably 100 out of 100 times.
I have said I thought his approach to the couple of things that snared him was a bit sloppy, I think you and I may disagree on that but my old brain may be muddled up on that, but it does not change the fact that he was a very good (maybe great) coach and he did not do anything others have not done.
Just everything about the timing sucked for WW and LSU. I think if the Miles era and Guice allegations had run their course a few years earlier, LSU may have taken a different approach.
I also think some of the O fans felt somehow slighted because most people wanted O gone but wanted WW retained. I could be wrong about that and maybe PK has colored my thinking on that one.

I think that’s correct what you’re saying and in the case of your O theory, at least with 1 poster it’s 100% true because I witnessed it in real time.

Actually, he lied to the SD AND the President of the University!!! Of course, he won't be back!!

It's only a matter of time til a rival of LSU hires him and we get to watch him BTFO us every year. It's like Saban, except this time, it's 100% LSU's fault.

The Indiana job is going to be available at the end of the year. It is likely they will target Chris Beard. Indiana > Ole Miss in basketball. Beard will go. Ole Miss will then IMMEDIATELY target Wade. They looked at him last time their job was open, but were bold enough to hire a "troubled" coach and are reaping the benefits from that decision.
They won't give even the slightest of shits Wade "cheated" or "lie to his bosses". They will just enjoy coming in and kicking LSU's arse on an annual basis while our admin sits on it's pulpit of moral losers.

Unless Woodward dies this isnt going to happen.
Wade lied to him, twice. You dont lie to your boss and get your job back.
It wouldn't matter if Woodward was out of the picture. Tate and the board would never sign off on it either.

Agreed….I distinctly remember this board saying how shitty of a coach he was. He was only winning because he was cheating and able to bring in better players. Now that paying players is legal, what would be the advantage?

If Arkansas can take Petrino back.....

He's going to make 2 tourneys in a row at 11-1 in Southland now. Played @ Bama to 8 pts and basically @ Mississippi St to 3 points.

quote:He's brought 3 different programs to the NCAAT. Both LSU and McNeese were dumpster fires when he took over. McNeese is having historic success for that program and it's in the NIL landscape. At LSU, Wade wasn't outbidding UK, Duke, UNC, Kansas and the likes for talent - that's ridiculous. Their coffers run deep. The idea he was winning based on some huge talent advantage is just made up bullshite by the simple folk.
