In the first 4 games they draw a difficult slate where a brand new team must work out chemistry immediately. Thankfully, 3 of 4 are at home, with a practice game wedged between Clemson and Ole Miss. This sets up nicely to keep fresh legs going into Oxford. It's likely LSU loses to either Ole Miss or Texas A&M. My money is on A&M being the culprit since LSU still hasn't proven it can stop Marcel Reed. 3-1 to start.

4-0 in October.

In the last 4, the BEAT DOWN of Alabama that Tiger fans have been waiting for since 2003 finally happens. A well oiled 7-1 Tigers with high chemistry plays their best game and takes Bama to the wood shed with a 30+ point win.

Then an OT win against Texas for a spot at number 1 in the conference happens next. Should feel like 2022 Bama that night beating a likely undefeated Texas.

Then injuries take their toll, specifically on defense, and the Tigers lose a high scoring close one in Tennessee. Something like 49-45 loss. Easy win at Arkansas to finish 10-2.

LSU misses the SEC Champioship game and gets healthy for CFP hosting first round in Tiger Stadium and goes on a run to the finals.

10-2 exceeds expectations for Tiger fans in year 1.

That would suck. Only thing is the team will be coming off the emotional high of the Ole Miss game and turn around and have to get on another emotional high for A&M.

I feel that as well especially having back-to-back seasons at home against the Aggies. I still lean to 9-3 but there is opportunity to win 10 games if the team can stay healthy in the back part of the season.

It's not going to be difficult for them to get up for A&M, especially after last year. Trust me. Also if A&M is undefeated and a top 10 team.

People put way too much into the emotional letdown BS. That applies mostly when you're facing an underwhelming opponent following a huge one. Otherwise we'd see more letdowns in playoff scenarios where emotions run high for a month or more.

I think it will be the opposite.

In both 24 and 25 vs. A&M LSU's defense collapsed in the 2nd half. But so did LSU's offenses. LSU led at the half in BOTH games. It should have been a blowout lead in 2024 with the way LSU dominated the 1st half. However, LSU scored a grand total of 6 points (if you take out the garbage time TD at the end of last year's game) combined in the 2nd halves of those games. Even with the defensive struggles, with a competent offense LSU stays in those games.

I don't think Kiffin's offense will be the dog-crap Sloan put out there. IMO, that's going to allow LSU to get the win.

Ole Miss will be the tougher game. FTR, I think LSU is the better team. I think the single biggest reason for OM's success over the last 5 years will be standing on the LSU sidelines during that game. But this one has some 2008 LSU vs. Alabama vibes. Alabama was the better team that year. But the emotion of the home crowd kept LSU in the game...despite Lee's awful QB play. That may very well be the case in an early season game in Oxford and I don't think Chambliss will be as bad as Lee was in 2008.

As much as I'm happy to have Kiffin as HC, we've all personally witnessed some moments where his team seemingly should have won the game but let the home opponent hang around just enough to get the win. Ole Miss was dominating LSU in the first quarter of the 2022 game. LSU was then able to get just enough of a foothold to stay in the game to allow the home crowd to avalanche OM in the second half. If we are being honest, OM probably should have won the 2024 game. Same thing. They came out on fire against LSU. But a few missed chances kept LSU around and by the end the Tiger Stadium atmosphere had OM in a blender.
