re: The blocking on this play was horrendous.

There was a hole on the left side. All Pimpton had to do was impede his guy a little bit and Emery gets the 1st down.
And the entire line wouldn't crash down like that if LSU had even tried running off tackle all game (or if Nuss considered keeping it). That play works with Daniels but why even call it if it relies on Nuss as an option to run to keep the DE from crashing down.
Eta: or the appearance of Nuss as an option to run.

The O-line didn't fire off the line on the snap. Lazy piss-poor effort on a crucial 3 and 1.
Looks like RPO action. Can't fire off and drive or you might give up a lineman down field penalty. If it is an RPO, then Nuss made the wrong read and should have pulled it and dropped it off to Lacy. (We don't know what's called but it was clearly designed to look like Nuss is reading the end.)

Nuss should have pulled it and made a quick throw to Lacy.
I don't think he's allowed to
You are probably right.
That's unfortunate. The coaches are going to have to let go if that is truly the case.
Hopefully Nuss gains the coaches trust over the next few games.

Right. Makes no sense.
The offensive personnel and play calling are incongruent right now.
It's just a zone. I doubt Nuss had a read option

We had 8 against their 7.
The entire line failed.
There was no where to run on that play.

Not really, just Taylor and Pimpton
Don’t ask those guys to block in that situation, easy fix.

your second TE on the right on an inside zone left shouldn’t be why you can’t get 1 yard

No doubt. Nuss pulls that ball with a short slant to Lacy and it’s the easiest 8 yards ever gained.
That could have gone a very long way, well past the first down.

They would have been better off releasing from the LoS. At least there was a potential to pull a defender or two away from the play.

his guy had a free run at the ball carrier

Nuss should’ve checked that to a slant to Lacy it would’ve been an easy 1st

When someone is slamming their fist on the table, that means they have either lost all control of the situation or don't have reasonable solution to fix things. Seen it too many times in the private world. Last time a manger did that in front of the team, the team slowly 1 by 1 started to leave the company to get away from them.

Soft O line and tight ends. We were told exactly the opposite all preseason
Posted on 9/3/24 at 11:35 am to Zephyrius
Or pull it back and flip to Lacy
Posted on 9/3/24 at 11:36 am to GumboPot
There's a split play where he was completely pancaked, which blew up the play
Posted on 9/3/24 at 11:36 am to Salmon
Soft in the trenches like every year

Brian Kelly? Let go? Not in his DNA.
He's a micromanager who has "his offense" and "his gameplan" and he doesn't digress much from either.

yes my
point was that’s bad.
You need to at least get in the way for a second or 2

Tried explaining ad nasuem the Markway transfer hurts more than people made it out to be. Yes he is not near as athletic and good in the PASS game as Pimpton/Green but we arent getting anything positive out of Pimpton or Green in the RUN blocking game and thats what TEs do the MAJORITY of the time.
Pimpton still looked lost as a blocker this game despite random reports he "Was so much improved" as a blocker after Markway transferred. Green never even got on the field to block once.

Part of that is because they all sold out as if they knew exactly what we were going to run. There was no engage/read/react going on.
