The biggest issue at QB is: Accuracy -- there's only so much you can teach

Sure, Sam has happy feet at times, but thats not his biggest liability. He just is not consistently on target.
I once heard Ron Jaworski say that the most underrated quality of a QB is accuracy. Sam struggles with it. You have to hope he is "on", because if he's not we'll be punting a good bit.

Footwork is accuracy. Go back and watch Josh allen in college vs pros. Footwork cleaned up accuracy improves

Throwing easy 8-10 yard passes seems to be very difficult. Also his throws are flat in that range and get deflected.

Good point. Leavitt 's footwork can get him in trouble. There were at least 2 huge 3rd down passes where his miss was bad and his footwork was non-existent.

His happy feet creates inaccuracies. He throws off balance, I noticed this with Clemson. Dude don’t set his feet and throws off.

Leavitt is not and will never be a pocket passer. His thought processes are not mechanics, not check downs, but to run and try to make something happen. Right or wrong that's what he brings to the table, sometimes it works, sometimes it's a mess.

Better footwork would definitely fix some of his accuracy issues.

Accuracy starts with the footwork. Watch how many of his bad passes were made with his feet not set.

Footwork and it can be taught. Being nervous and settling down comes with time.

I really hate to say it, but after three games I am questionning whether our guy is the elite QB that everyone suggested that he was when we recruited him. Don't get me wrong--he does have considerable talent in the running game. But footwork and accuracy have long been accomplished and are standard among elite quarterbacks. We have watched him struggle with footwork and accuracy in each of the three games so far.
What I am hoping is that he will develop into the elite quarterbook that everyone said he is. Perhaps he is like Jaden Daniels, who in his first season with us was not an elite-level passer but developed into one his second season.

Dropped passes, inability to get separation, & inopportune mental mistakes were much worse. There was an easy TD to go ahead if the cutback is made on 3rd down, instead the FG to tie it up. What about all the injuries?? Do they not matter??
What about the absolute atrocious PFF ratings, yet it’s this accuracy issue in the 3rd game on the road when this team came back not once but twice by 17. How many teams do you really think could do that??

Between getting some passes tipped at the line of scrimmage & having some sail high, he's been "off" every game this season. And at a minimum this last game, his mis throws cost us 2 long gainers & 1 TD.

Everyone needs to go watch Jaxson Darts first season at OM. His accuracy was just as bad. Deep balls were bad, questionable decisions, bad interceptions, quick to run. And he had a veteran Oline and Mingo and Trigg to throw to.
He’s played 3 games. He’s shown toughness. This is Kiffin’s specialty developing QBs. Don’t give up so quickly.

It’s not even accuracy, it’s vision. He saw the TE too late, panicked and dumped the ball wide. Then there’s this missing #4 on the scramble to the right side on 1 and goal after the 2:00.
Sam isn’t a bad QB with no touch. Hes an uncomfortable QB who doesn’t have a feel for the speed of the game. Important difference.

He’s played football all his life. A year at Michigan State, 2 at ASU and he still has shitty footwork and accuracy. It ain’t in the cards.
