There are definitely mechanical problems. But if or when you are have excelled at your position or sport to the degree that you are highly recruited/paid Division 1 athletes.........it's almost always a "mental" issue. Leavitt "knows" and "has" thrown many great passes before! Why does he only do it sometimes?

Again, when you reach the level these elite players have, the plays/passes/pitches/strokes/technique....or "game" becomes more and more mental (nerves, confidence, relaxed/loose, focus, eyesight, breathing, rhythm, etc.) as opposed to "technique".

It's the "mind/brain" that controls ALL movement, action!

Leavitt is not "synced" with team, field, receivers. He is irratic, jerky, nervous. This is a mental or even a "personality" issue. I think (see) poor chemistry between him and the team in general, not just his receivers. He seems to be somewhat independent. He is highly paid, is in the limelight, and may feel "seperate" from his teammates. I'm not knocking the guy. He's a kid. They all are. Egos are normal. Especially making 6 million at that age.

Leavitt just does not "flow" or move in a controlled manner. Remember.....he is on a TEAM and MUST SYNC/PLAY/MOVE with them in Tandem! Even when he makes great runs....he appears very jerky. I know that is how he makes his moves, but I see it always - at all times.

Every great QB....you will see that fluent, smooth, balanced motion. And so when you see/say "he's got footwork problems"........YES, of course he has Footwork/Mechanical problems, because he is not mentally relaxed, comfortable. The problem goes deeper and stems from an overall lack of "mental" confidence/control.

to continue......

I wish I could see/say Leavitt being more of a "Leader". I'm not on the team, and I don't "know" the "relationship" Leavitt has with his players. But I'm starting to sense, feel that he lacks in the Leadership department. Some have it, and some just don't (think Burrow and the relationship he had with the team and players). I don't care how good/bad your "mechanics" are......a QB with "Leadership" skills/traits is CRITICAL & PRICELESS!

So, when I talk about being SYNCED, it Definitely includes having a successful "leadership" relationship with your team - Big Time! And NOT just with your Wide Receivers. But everyone on the team. And if I was a QB.....I would make DAMNED SURE I was "connected to and friends with" my Offensive Line!!

Again, I'm talking about the "mental aspects" (personality, chemistry) that are also Essential of being great, winning as an individual & team!

Watch his eyes, he often stares down his intended target. He's one and run, not an SEC quarterback. And will not be an NFL one either unless he can handle at least 3 reads.
