How did you come up with 4 pitchers being burned in that situation?
Therefore, you burn those two, then bring in Cowan and Evans (his words not mine) to close the game out. That's at the very least.

quote:No. I am using your logic that the results would be the same. Or are they only the same when they fit your argument (Cowan shutting the door tonight)?
Because he don’t think that besides Cowan and Evans our bullpen couldn’t get 9 outs left up 8-2

Then he would of been available in the 5th inning tonight . Or don’t pitch him at all up 8-2 and you got Cowan and evans both available tonight.

What's to say you don't find yourself in a similiar mess with the bullpen last night?

How do you know they give up 3 runs you automatically assuming they give up 3 runs. It’s a lot easier to pitch up 8-2 than in a close 5-3 game

It was 8-2 when Cowan came in

What’s to say you don’t? Lot easier to pitch up 8-2 than up 5-3 like tonight’s game

Make no mistake, you would have bitched either way. You’re quickly becoming a weekly name of a recognizable bitch “fan”.
There’s no guarantee Cowan comes back strong on back to back nights, and you would have been one of firsts to question decision to pitch him again.

I said don’t pitch him up 8-2. And if you did then pitch one inning and he can come back tonight. It’s not that hard people but you making it hard.

Ok there’s your downvote from me

The problem is trying to get through weekends in the best conference in baseball with 2 reliable bullpen guys.

But we weren’t up 8-2 when we put Cowan in… it was 4-2 and Jay was trying to close the deal.

While correct, and those that said it last night were right, I think you need to realize Jay is coaching with the big picture in mind.
If this were late in the year, you'd probably have seen him try and save Cowan. I actually thinks he wants to see the guy in these situations right now.
