Without Apu Ika, Aranda has been hot garbage.

that's some Bill Arnsparger Steve Spurrier shite right there.

I don’t see how Ross Bjork has a job. He oversaw Freeze lighting a powderkeg at Ole Miss then dove head first into the Matt Luke experience.

Then goes to aTm and gets lapped by Woodward and puts together this ludicrous deal without even sniffing the SEC championship game.

and subsequently give a 10-year $95 million guaranteed deal to a clown who hasn't/won't win a NC!

Woodward nailed the Mulkey and Johnson hires but he shits the bed with FB contracts!

Hey, I like the take by True Tiger Tale in his opening post.

When I first saw the subject line, I thought, oh no! Two Texas colleges are blaming LSU for their coaching contract woes.

But then I read the complete post, saw the overwhelming # of positive votes and realized that post makes a strong point.

TTT - In layman's terms, LSU firing Ed Orgeron is the reason why Texas A&M and Baylor are in a coaching crisis. LSU living rent-free in the heads of Texas universities.

Dont forget UT rushing to hire Tom Herman because he was about to sign with LSU

The truth is the big Texas schools think they can money-whip their way to the top, and that is their downfall.

I kinda think Aranda under Kelly would be a good combo.

I agree. Aranda is not good at running a program, but he is a good DC . A knock on him is his recruiting. Under NIL money is the new recruiter, Don’t need a DC that is a great recruiter.

Man, how many people does Scott Woodward hire to post here? To think he was trying to sabotage A&M when he worked there is sheer idiocy! He was friends with Jimbo, he thought Jimbo was a great coach so he gave him a ridiculous deal. If you notice he seems to give all of his hires ridiculous long term deals with guaranteed salary. If Kelly starts to lose we will be stuck with him for a very long time or will be giving him a buyout like Jimbo's. He even gave McMahon a ten year deal when he wasn't even a proven big time coach. I sure am glad it's not my money he keeps spending. Wonder if the rich alums are getting sick of it?

EXACTLY!!!!

everyone wants to laugh at aTm but we are not far from there...Woodward nailed the hires of Johnson and Mulkey but his football contracts have been historically awful! check back in 2025 to find us in a similar spot!

I think Aranda under Kelly would work as well. However, I do want to say that I think BK is a good coach. I do NOT think he's worth nearly $10 Mil a season. If UGA gave Kirby an extension of that magnitude, fine. Saban, yes but his age is a concern. Outside of that, these $100 mil contracts are crazy! And it puts you in a horrible position at the 4/5 year mark if they haven't produced. BK has proven that he can win lots of games but has yet to win the big game. Also, its 50/50 if LSU will look ready to play in the major games. Last year we lost to FSU but beat Bama. We also struggled in some games we shouldn't have and lost to A&M when we still had a lot to play for. This year we lose again to FSU and field the absolute worst defense imaginable.

Perkins looked all world last year, looks average at best this year. M. Smith looks average. Speights and Penn were pretty solid before coming here, now they look horrible. I don't think it's as much as a talent issue as it is a scheme and coaching issue. They look lost and have no idea what to do on the field.

BK is the head guy and everything is on him. His contract is too much to not have insane expectations. The thing that worries me is I don't see the defense improving much next year. All season long I've been waiting for it to just click for these guys and they are getting worse. It's as if they've bought into the media and just know they are bad.

You are being unfair to Woodward to a degree, did you even comprehend what the press in Texas are implying ?

I guess I failed to make their point clear. Woodward and LSU did nothing wrong, it was the fear of what LSU and Woodward might do after firing Orgeron which caused a coaching contract crisis at Texas A&M and Baylor.

That was the entire theme of their article, it wasn’t to fault LSU or Woodward. There are leaders of countries who wish they were clever enough to yield that much power over other countries.

It’s the recruiting part that’s hurting him right now not the coaching. When he arrived at Baylor, they had talent and Aranda had success. Aranda hasn’t replenished that talent and Baylor is losing.

I'm not saying he should have hired a coach who has won a NC, I'm saying he should hire one who has the potential to win one. Kelly has a large enough resume to prove he can't get it done. I'd rather a younger coach with less than 10 years experience who could be the next big thing than a guy who wins a lot of BS regular season games at ND with no ability to win meaningful games!
