There's no reason to trust TexAgs, and I don't believe there's an agreement with anybody at this point.

However, I think Stoops is a legitimate candidate for Woodward.

This right here. I think the long list has been trimmed some and more will come. I am ok with Stoops.
One thing to consider. The next LSU will likely see the end of the Saban era in the West. Less of a deterrent now playing Bama every year for a coach looking at opportunity

Woodward would ask Saban about him, since Napier worked under Saban
if you believe the LSU AD is asking the Bama coach to hire then you’re a special kind of retarded

I don’t know if Woodward will make the “splashy” hire everyone is expecting, but I trust that he’ll do his due diligence and hire the right guy for the job. That’s more than anyone could ever say about Alleva.

It’s not asking about who to hire. It’s doing due diligence. If you’re buddies with Nick Saban and one of his former assistants is a candidate for your coaching job you give the man a call. You don’t base your whole decision on his thoughts but you damn well hear them.

Yes. And that person is 100% NOT Mark fricking Stoops. To even entertain that is misguided. Guy had made Kentucky somewhat relevant for a very short period of time and has accomplished nothing else in his life. No thanks.

Ed Simonini's road roomie with the Colts was a guy named Randy Burke, who had a very undistinguished NFL career, but that's beside the point.

How would Randy Burke know who the next LSU head coach is?
And why would he be telling casual golf buddies?

"Legitimate and well-placed sources at Texas A&M" ... that's a funny line.

There's no disputing that the gang at TexAgs are so beholden to Aggie leadership that their lips are fused to the athletic department's posteriors, and thus they get handed a lot of Aggie "scoops."
But they don't know shiite about other schools. How could they? They didn't even see Texas coming to their SEC neighborhood and they're only 90 minutes away.

This wouldn’t surprise me at all and I wouldn’t hate it. Woodward’s usual move has been to poach a proven head coach from a smaller program. Jimbo, jay Johnson, mulkey...

At Alabama they record everything. If someone farts it gets written down and stored in a binder somewhere.

So binders are good again??

Smaller program?

Florida State won a national title with Fisher and until only recently has a richer football history. Seminoles were not a smaller program.

Nor was Baylor women's basketball. On the contrary, they were one of college basketball's elite programs.

People here are too quick to judge coaching candidates on things like their 2020-21 W-L records, their ages, their buyouts, etc. Woodward seems to take a more holistic approach with his hires, and in the end nobody ever seems to say, "I don't get it. Why him (or her)?"

Instead, they always say, "Yeah, of course he hired him."

So who's our "of course" guy?

(I don't see it being Mark Stoops, for one).

They will say anything to make themselves feel better about the likelihood of losing Jimbo.
