spot on with beloso. he doesn’t deserve a spot in the lineup and should only be used strategically in a Ph role

You forgot to mention that Dylan Crews is good at baseball, Les.

Agreed with all but the Dugas point. He should have been called off.

OF definitely has the right of way.

but Jobert was playing deep due to big LH with 10Hrs.

I think Dugas threw him off, because it looked like he was under, then he wasnt.

Rather routine play in a vacuum, and Jobert is getting too much shite because Dugas looked bad doing it.

THIS

LSU is good at baseball this year. Brady Neal is not bad behind the dish at all. Skenes is the best to ever do it in purple and gold IMO.

I'm REALLY excited about April

Agree with most of it.

Keep repeating this in your head; LSU has the arms, they are just not in the right spots yet. That is not anyone's fault, but the coaches are still probing to see what works

Well said. We’ve needed some close games to try and sort out who can be counted on. We just haven’t played a ton of close games.

In Dugas' case, it affected Hurd for sure, and leant Jobert some unwarranted hate.

Disagree with this. Jobert played scared and let Dugas run all the way out into right field and miss a pop up. Jobert HAS to call him off on windy days.

Dugas was camped. The OF has to get off of it if the infielder is camped. By the time Dugas realized he was not near the landing point, it was too late for Jobert or anyone else to do anything. The only solution would have been for Jobert to call it off the bat, but he had a long run, heard Dugas call it, saw Dugas camped, etc. It was just a sucky situation all around.

Outstanding reflection from my perspective and I appreciate you articulating and piecing all of it together. Thank you.

As far as Hurd Taking a break, agree as well and perhaps swap with Shores for that breather a d take it from there. I'm certain the coaches will be working on that and the base running. Fantastic start to season overall.

Neal has performed better than I expected defensively, but you are starting to see him struggle more vs quality SEC pitching.

Neal was 1-9 this weekend with 6 K's and only 1 walk. Season average now down to .230

His 1 hit was a big one though!

Beloso had a rough day at the plate today for sure (0-5 with 3 K's). 1-12 on the weekend with 3 K's and 1 walk.

Hurd's problems are both mechanical and mental. He doesn't appear to have the mental make up of either Shores or Herring.

No way I'm starting Hurd next weekend at S. Carolina. Back to the midweek lab.

What would be interesting to know and would affect how he plays in the lineup and the field is, is Jarred Jones a better hitter when he plays the field vs DH. Someone would need to dig into those stats but anecdotally, it seems like he does better at the plate when he plays the field.

There wasn’t much wind today. About 6mph. He just misjudged it. He was already playing on the grass, so he had a much shorter distance to go than Jobert.

Neal still has alot of freshmany at bats. I think they need to shorten him up some and work the other way more. He has the right approach but he's very trigger happy at times.

Jones seemed way more comfortable consistently this weekend against good pitching than he has. That's a good sign.

I'd like to see White have more consistent at bats. He's good, I'm not questioning that, but he looks bad way too often. I think it's him overthinking how pitchers are going to attack him.

Crews started the series 2-7, but then finished it 6-11 after his 4-4 day today and actually raised his average to .543 Crews is absolutely locked in.

Morgan finished weekend 6-14 raising his average to .327.

White struggled a bit this weekend at 3-12. Some hard hit balls that didn't fall, but he is still swinging at too much garbage for my liking. Needs to be more patient.

At least a few of White's hits were half swings that fell bc the outfielders were playing on the warning track, kind of evens out the hard hit balls that didn't fall. He's going to be fine as long as he sticks to his approach, which he's second guessing at the moment. He's so afraid of getting beat on the inner half right now - teams are baiting him in there then going slow away.

Thoughts on Shores or Herring getting a Sunday start? Really like them in the situations they faced this weekend but a 5/6 inning outing on Sunday with their stuff makes us hard to beat.

Idk I like Them as long relievers on Friday and Saturday.

Neither has shown they can go 5-6 inning, so it’s still a crapshoot after they leave the game.

I mean I’ve been pushing for Shores but at some point you need to stretch one of them out if that is in the cards. And I suspect as freshmen they are treated with gloves. Like they aren’t going to go from 25 pitch innings to starting,

Little seems like the next obvious guy though. Started midweek, didn’t pitch this weekend. If you want to keep the same type of bullpen setup, you could see what he has vs SC.

He absolutely deserved his spot going into the weekend. He is cooling off and the DH spot definitely needs to be re-evaluated for next weekend. But to say he doesn’t deserve to be looked at for a spot in the lineup is just you being bias. He went 1-12 and is still batting .395. The DH spot will be a platoon as it should be.

That’s the thing though, no one besides Skenes or Floyd has really shown that. And even Floyd runs his pitch count up sometimes. I’m hoping Floyd can consistently go 6 innings. If we can keep limit ourselves to using 3 pitchers on Fridays and Saturdays, we should have plenty left to piece together games on Sundays.
