Good post for the most part until you said Milazzo almost costed us the game Thursday night. TBH I think he should be catching at least half the games. Not much difference between he and Neal.
He had a passed ball on a pitch that was a borderline strike to move the tying run into scoring position then he went to third on what was scored a wild pitch but was off of his mit in the air.

There’s a difference between him and Neal.

If Shores is done for the year and Ack is out for an extended period, that’s a huge blow. I’m not sure we have the pitchers to make up for their absence.

Pearson and Kling in the corners and let them grow up

This! This is the most talented team since 2009. There was also talented young outfielders who needed experience, onet a sophomore, one a freshman.

Leon Landry and Mikey Mahtook were absolutely essential to that world series

We do. Guys will just have to step up. Collins needs to be better, more like today. Cooper will have to eat some innings, somewhat like today. Hurd and Little need to get it together. Herring needs to keep rising. Guidry and Bucknam need to step up. Money needs to get some critical outs. We have the arms. Maybe we look at Bronzini and Primeaux. Coleman may come back in May.

Damn. First Noot, then Taylor and now Shores. If it's season ending that really hurts...

3 mental mistakes this weekend that cost us at least 1 run was not tagging up from 2nd on balls hit to Right center. Twice they showed Jay’s reaction in the dugout and he was not happy. Little things like that win championships.

Yes, but this one still hurts. I'm glad we've got Coach Wes Johnson on board along with CJJ..they will be working it out again this year, but after the pitching the staff squeezed out of our guys last year I have confidence. Guidry reminds me of a small Chad Jones coming in from football to close out game type potential if they work him right.

The Neal/Milazzo argument is so tiresome. We all know what their roles are, I don’t even know what people are debating at this point.

Excellent summation and analysis. My only real concern with the team is if they are built for success in the tournaments. The Fri-Sat starters might be the best in the nation. But, after that there is such a huge drop off, and you really need to find 2 more for tourney play. I still wouldn't bet against them taking the championship banner this year, but this could be even more of an issue as the season develops.

Dugas today and White a few times over the weekend, just do not really make the plays a really good defensive team should make. Their bats more than make up for it, so you wont hear too many complaints from me. In Dugas' case, it affected Hurd for sure, and leant Jobert some unwarranted hate.

My only thing here is if Dugas doesn't slip and throws the guy out its a different ball game. And if Pearson or Kling was in the outfield then they would have called Dugas off and caught the pop up. Dugas has been good at second. Losing his footing in the grass and Jobert not charging in and calling him off is hard for me to lay blame on Dugas.

Out of that group you named that need to step up, who do you really trust at this point? I really like what I’ve seen from Herring so far. Guidry has shown promise in limited opportunities. Other than that, no one else has been reliable. If we are going to make a run at a natty, the arms have to make a significant jump.

For all the people bitching about pitching they need to remember this would be the 3rd key loss to the staff

Really wouldn’t bother me if we just went Johnny Wholestaff on Sundays.

Yep. Who are you handing the ball to close out a regional on Sunday? It seems like you have the same problem as last season.

Relying on the bats to bail you out is less than ideal as they've shown in series against a&m and TN, there are teams out there with enough pitching depth to keep the offense from exploding in game 3.

But it's really no different from past lsu teams that made a run in the post-season, someone towards the back of the bullpen is going to have to step up. Gilbert 2017 and Hodges 2000 come to mind.

Rewatch him walking off the mound after his last out. MRI this morning was not good

I re-watched his last inning and couldn't pick up the pitch where he hurt his arm at all. He was throwing 97-99 mph and when he walked off he appeared pretty emotionless with his throwing arm hanging by his side. I didn't see him trying to shake it off when he was on the mound but he didn't use it at all to give five to any of his teammates that came out to walk him off the field into the dugout, he did that with his gloved hand. Here's to hoping that any injury he has can be healed with rest and without surgery.
