And Brady wasn’t even (officially) the OC. Ensminger was

Next week won’t tell us much. We are gonna have to wait and see exactly how much-or if-this team has improved since last year. If I’m being objective there are a ton of variables that impacted that game Saturday.

Attrition and injuries on Defense. New coordinators (that’s O’s responsibility but it’s reasonable to expect improvement. Will we?), facing a team on the road in a season opener with a game under their belt, storm logistics, etc.

We lost. It sucks. Worst of all it looked like our team quit late. Effort and give a shite appeared lacking when the game was still in the balance.

Objectivity tells us that there are some big potential problems here though. Our RB Position could not be thinner or less productive. Our line could not be performing worse (despite returning experience at both position groups). New, inexperienced coaches that may bring a name but don’t bring a track record of success. Whether recruiting or developing talent.

I’ll also go ahead and say that Moffitt has been here 2 decades. He’s had a great run. He’s a living legend. But…we gave up 470 yards to UCLA. We got held to less than 100 yards rushing. Sacks didn’t distort that lack of production.

We were found wanting in the trenches Saturday, and Coach Moffitt bears responsibility for making sure we are bigger, stronger, more explosive and dominant across the roster. Instead, we looked like the weaker team.

We can’t judge a one game sample size. But when we look at these issues objectively, the LSU Football Program appears to have issues across the Board. Issues the Head Coach objectively appears and has appeared to be ill equipped to address and correct. Issues which are not new. Ones that we have seen before.

With new coordinators and new coaches this would have been a great year to open with McNeese and not on the road vs a D-1 school that had already played a game. Otherwise, the truth is their RB was better than our RB, their o-line better than our d-line, their d-line better than our o-line, Max was thinking more than playing, our LBs don’t know how to cover TEs or disrupt crossing patterns. 1-2 of the freshmen RBs need to be special or we’re 6-6 this year and going to Independence Bowl

Jmho…… UCLA coaches made adjustments on offense after the first 3 series….

We appeared to make Zero adjustments after their offense started taking over….

Coaches blew the game….

Sure our linebackers are lacking…. Safetys not much better… but coaches blew it….

Aranda got run off.

All because O wanted to run a four man front, like his daddy Pete Carroll

If you believe that, I have beachfront property for sale in Antarctica.

Aranda was a threat to Orgeron. Aranda could very well have been Woodward's own version of Orgeron.

Kiffin could Spurrier Part II at LSU with just an average DC (which we do not even have right now in Jones)
Yep like he did at Oakland, USC and other multiple stops. But now because he’s at LSU an average coach is going to become the next Steve Spurrier lol

It could tell us a lot. If we struggle against Mcneese State, which I think we will, it’ll be the beginning of the end for O.

The plan Ed sold to get the gig was, "you can pay me less than what an SEC head coach earns, because I'm going to use that extra $$ and pay the best coordinators in the game." His initial plan was Kiffin on Offense and keep Aranda on defense.

But Kiffin took a head coaching job so O got the hottest name (Canada) and when that didn't work out he got lucky and found Joe Brady. It all came together, O got paid and Brady left and Aranda got run off.

Now his "best coordinators in the game" have never been coordinators before, his O-line coach has been on the job for around 4 months and the defensive coordinators are trying to undo the damage Pellini was able to do to what Aranda built in one year, with no track record that they've ever been able to do that (do you think Miami really put up a fight to keep their co-defensive coordinator who took a demotion to come be LB coach at LSU?)

So my truth is- let the season play out, but based on this season Woodward better start putting together a "wanted list" and let this season influence that.

As far as I'm concerned if Kiffin shows continued improvement this year he's the leader and then I back the Brinks truck up to UGA and bring in one of their defensive staff and by all means keep Corey Raymond.

So it's too early to name a leading candidate, maybe it's Billy Napier, maybe it's Matt Campbell, but assuming Kiffin continues to build (and this season should answer that question) the thing I like about him is, if there is one person who hates Saban & Alabama more that LSU fans, it's him. Come in here with our resources and recruiting base and build a true competitor to Saban; you can't do that at Ole Miss...

Well thought out. As good a read as Ive seen in here for quite awhile.

PS
Im still hopeful...... Cant wait to see your posts again after the Auburn game.

They should make the team sit thru an open call on from supporters who were disgusted by the team play
Including all coaches to hear what fans of LSU thought of the product they put on the field .
It was an insult to all Tiger fans everywhere

Well they didn’t blow Texas State away but they didn’t win because of a missed field either. If you want to talk about facts maybe check their accuracy first instead of letting your own herd mentality get the better of you and looking like a total idiot in the process.
