7 games on the highest stage and he’s just getting worse

You are making shite up. We went from leading to trailing by 5 runs and those 5 runs literally came from Thompson. At that point, JJ waved the white flag and brought the bottom of the bullpen.
No one will be pulling harder for JT than I will tonight. We ALL want him to succeed. But pointing out poor play isn’t rude. It’s being honest. There is no need to attack the guy personally. He works his arse off and wants to win. Unfortunately for him, his teammates, and the fans, it’s been horrible to watch. It’s a hell of a lot more than “a bad game”

Let's face it. Slumping and playing poorly or not, he is our starting shortstop. Jay has already said we are riding the horses that got us there and he will start again tonight. Why not come together behind Jordan and put the past behind us and give the kid a final shot to help us win this game with no animosity or degradation?
I am a Tiger supporter, therefore I am a Jordan supporter.

Whether you like him or not, we need him and need him to play well.
He is the best we have at his position. He has made great plays and had key hits in the past.
Hold the rope guys, don't let go until we win it all.

Being ridiculed or given opinions or constructive criticism is all part of life and the game.
Ridiculing someone who is on your team that makes a mistake is boorish behavior and pointless. And it is totally different from criticizing their play. Saying "That was a bad play" is different from "Thompson is trash". Saying "Thompson had a poor game" or "Thompson has had a rough CWS, particularly at the plate" is not the same as saying "Thompson should get on the bus now" or "Thompson should never see the field again".
As for constructive criticism, I am uncertain if that can be applied to comments on TD primarily because the player or coaches are not going to see those but also because half of the people criticizing probably can't distinguish a catcher's mitt from a batting glove (that may be a bit of hyperbole

As long as both are done within good character, then so be it.
Agreed, but ridiculing someone on your team is never in good character in my opinion, perhaps we disagree on this.

That's is definitely debatable. Many fans would have liked to see him benched before yesterday's game. And to be honest, I don't think anyone can claim Nippolt would have done worse than what we saw yesterday. I think Thompson has more talent than many here give him credit for. Right now his problem is b/t his ears. His teammates were visibly bothered with him yesterday and even chewed his arse. We don't know what went on behind closed doors last night, but we hope it was productive.

100% accurate. For whatever reason, we've never prepared for a scenario where we could have a backup shortstop for the entire season. It's poor planning, b/c JT could have gotten injured and we'd be in a situation where we only have an inexperienced replacement.

I pull for the athletes also but I’m not gonna pretend someone had a good game when they didn’t. Saying he basically gave 5 runs to Florida because of his 2 early errors is not hating on him, it’s the truth. He turns a routine double play and they are out of the inning tied at 3 instead of behind 7-3.
I do think people should give their rightful criticism, but do it in a good way. The right criticism at the right time and done in the right way, will keep a person grounded and help them be a better person, athlete, etc.
That being said, it’s very possible for him to do something great today that is the game winner.

Very encouraging words, Mrs. Thompson.
If your son values this team, he will fake an injury today so he can be fitted for a ring afterwards.

Yes, he is not having the CWS he or anyone else wanted him to have, but he a Tiger and is giving it his all. That's all he or anyone else can ask or expect. Represents the school well.
Hopefully he can shake off the performance yesterday and find an outrageous play or two (like he has done before) and help us win tonight.

He's not only playing poorly, he's clearly mentally cooked a this point. He literally booted the season and chance for a championship yesterday.

I’m praying he has a consequential double to help us win the game.
He’s a Tiger and that means something to me, I won’t denigrate him.

The game of baseball has countless redemption stories.... I surely hope Thompson is one of those feel good stories after tonight...

As awful as he played in the field yesterday he did barrel up some balls at the plate. Obviously none for hits.
But as the old saying goes....IT's Now or Never!

Your comments are spot on, but wasted on a bunch of keyboard warriors. They sure are mouthy from their couch. Some of it is poor parenting. Most of it is the fake bravery that comes from anonymous commenting. How many would say that type stuff to the face of the athlete?

You don’t just jump out of a 1-30 slumps and playing bad defense.
I like Thompson, but LSU will have to overcome his play to win. Plain and simple.

The CWS was JT's time to shine and drastically improve his draft stock. I am certain he has been pressing and cursing himself more than any Tiger fan ever considered.
I have complete faith in his ability to come out of his Omaha funk and be an integral component of his team bringing the championship back to BR this evening.

I’m pulling for JT. He has had great moments as a Tiger but also some really bad ones. He’s got a ton of talent it’s just whether he can overcome his mental issues. He’s always been streaky with his bat but he’s in one of the worst slumps I’ve seen in a while. Still have to ride with him since there is no one on the bench I would trust either in game 3 of the CWS.

I’m rooting for him- 4-4 tonight!
