This is not an endorsement of Orgeron or Pelini, but the defense obviously lacks talent. Ask yourself this question: who are the defensive starters that are definite NFL players. The answer is Stingley, and that is it.

The three main areas where talent is lacking is 1. Oline 2. LB 3. Dbs and until the oline is deep with more talented guys we’ll continue to get our arse kicked thank god for Ed Ingram because it would be worst I think you can afford to get 3* wr, dbs, and lbs but when it comes to offensive line you need more talented guys

These guys didn't regress physically. The coaching is the problem.

Stevens, Hampton, Ricks, Stingly

Cox

Ojulari, Gaye, Logan, Evans

The question you have to ask could you take the DC at MSU or UAB or Wisconsin and get better results with the same talent?

If you can, then it’s more of a coaching issue. That’s your answer. Like Hanny said last night, LSU is not 30+ points worse than this average AU team. They just aren’t. That’s coaching.

The talent isn’t 30+ points worse than Auburn though

No it isn’t. That’s a bullshite excuse from people who don’t understand that coaching can affect 1,000 different intangibles and make the players look worse. Pelini’s job extends far beyond scheming on gameday and he’s failing at those aspects too

There’s talent. Damone Clark looked like a monster in his role last year. He’s terrible this season in Pelini defense. Glen Logan, Stevens,Stingley, ricks, ojulari,Evans,Gaye etc there is talent they just don’t know what the frick they are doing

Every kid on that defense is good enough to receive a scholarship from LSU, therefore, they are talented

Our players looked good last year somehow...Jacoby Stevens would have been an early draft pick, but he and all of the blue chips we recruited look like 1stars now...including Derek Stingley...

As Hanagriff pointed out, the poor student reflects a poor teacher.

I personally think on the defense we do not have 4-3 guys playing. We have been recruiting for 3-4 for a few years now. Once we recruit more towards 4-3 the overall defense will improve

I agree that the coaching is not good, but guys like Flott, Baskerville, Harris, Farrell, Anthony, etc. are not the type of players that should be at LSU.

This is a poor excuse. Should have hired a 3 4 coordinator if that was true

BS ... that’s a lame excuse considering many of these players saw PT last year. Brandon Taylor spoke the truth last night after the game and called a spade a spade. The defensive players have become LAZY, have NO heart, have ZERO emotions on the field, and there is a serious communication problem between the DC and players. Absolutely zero excuse not knowing where to line up or what their responsibilities are 6 weeks into the season.

Also, BT said these kids are not spending time in the film room breaking down opponents plays and tendencies. Perfect example was #89 Peagues. When Auburn is in a single back set, and 89 lines up off the LOS as a TE, he comes in motion as a blocker and flares out to the flat for a pass. Auburn ran this play 3 times and LSU had zero clue or coverage. Had LSU paid more attention in film study the LB or players would have communicated to each other ... “watch 89 in motion heading to the flat”

How many other defenses know the exact LSU offensive play before we run it ? Pretty much all of them because they watch film and know our tendencies. Our players are lost and do not know their assignments.

You can’t make me believe that this is a talent issue. Missouri doesn’t have more talent than LSU, Mississippi St. does not have more talent than LSU. This is players not playing as a unit.

Nor does Arkansas yet their defense plays better as an unit than the Tiger's defense.

Agreed. Clark's name is mud now but he played well last year.

And FTR, your first four names were all 5* players in HS. And all but Ricks were proven players at this level. A whole lot of DB talent there.

Yet to play a team or unit that is more talented than us. Not one. Let that sink in.
